It gives a personal touch, thus encourages the visitors to interact. Making the customers excited about the products and services, also you can add link to other websites or blogs which increases your readership.

Directory submissions: it is submission of the website, its address and description to the online directory that allows submissions by site owners.
Also you can provide your details on various social networking websites like facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, orkut etc. to increase your fan following, post events, seminars.

Do you possibly have a list of directories to which i can submit my website? I submitted it on 4, 5 directories but i think there are a lot more.

You've mentioned 4 of the best ways to gain backlinks. There are software to make almost everything automated and speeds up the process. It all just depends if you're willing to learn how to use the software. For example article marketing robot has over 5k directories you can submit to and on average, I get about 1100 successful submits with 1 attempt. When I used to do it manually I would spend at least an hour just to spin and submit to 5 directories, now I would never go back to the manual way.

Maybe also forum profiling and forum signatures....some of have quite high weighting in the eyes of google

profile links / blog comments [joomla,wordpress,etc] are good ways to get backlinks, then ping them!

Creating pages on sites such as Squidoo and Hubpages that link back to your site has worked well for me. These types of pages get indexed by the search engines very quickly, and they receive a lot of traffic daily.
