Parent/Child page relationship?

I am wondering how the relationship between the main page and others pages works. Here is what I am talking about, lets say I purchase the domain balls.com and then I add a second page like balls.com/red balls here are my questions:
1. If I link the keyword BALLS to the main page and build up its PR and position, will that also help the RED BALLS page?
2. If I work on the keyword RED BALLS pointing to the second page, will that help the first page at all?
3. If I went deeper and added another page BALLS.COM/RED BALLS/WITH POKA DOTS, would it be easier to rank this page for POKA DOTS since it was drawing juice from the two pages above it?
