Wordpress installation problem interfering with SE indexing?

Just wondering if anyone could advise on whether or not this Wordpress set-up might problematic.

I installed WP at the root level, then after changing my plans for the site, I replaced the index.php page with an index.shtml page. I didn't think this would cause any problems, but could make it difficult for the SEs to index or crawl the site?

The "about" page and the 1st post were indexed months ago, but they're not getting spidered again. It's been a week since I started re-doing and promoting the site. The old content shows in the SERP, but if you click that link, it takes you to the (new) post.

The index.shtml page is linked to the inner pages of the blog and I've been building links to the index and inner pages. I've submitted a sitemap, included the feedburner RSS in MyYahoo, and filled out the profile at Whois not to mention using EZA, goarticles, etc. to submit articles linking to both the index page and inner pages. The articles are indexed, ranking and bringing in sales (!), but my blog posts...nada.

Maybe I should just be more patient, but I don't want to just sit and wait if there's something I need to fix.

Thanks for any guidance!
