Hi,

I bought a domain the regular way at Bluehost this week and it popped up as a premium domain with the "request price" first but after 2 sec i got it available for buying for $10

The seo quake shows that it is 5 years old. - Seo Norway

Can anyone tell me how this happens and do i get an extra advantage when i start building links to this domain?

Annette.

What I have noticed is domain age doesn't mean jack.

What matters is link age. How long and consistent have links been pointing toward the site. So if the domain has good backlinks that been there for a long time then that is where you will see value.

In my experience an aged domain will let you skip the sandbox altogether or spend little time in it, plug get slapped less or not at all.

  • When ownership changes hands... Google does their magic. Bye bye to aging benefits. But if you buy right and have plenty of incoming links then it really doesn't matter because it's better than working from scratch.

The ONLY way to keep Google out of your biz is to register your domains in proxy and then host on IP's separate from your other sites.

The only note of caution here is that you must trace the origins of your domain name and make sure that it has not been dropped or banned in its early days.
That can definitely be a blackmark.

Also, Google is itself a domain registrar and so it can see all the backend details of domain registration and the like. It is not possible to hide anything from it.
