Can you use Adwords for sites you don't own?
Why would I want to promote sites that I don't even own? Well, it would allow me to test traffic for keywords without having to worry about a poor quality score.

    Hi easygoingdude,

You are severely wrong about this!

You are heading down a path that could lead to your AdWords account being permanently suspended. If there is a program policy issue with your landing page, now or in the future, (AT A SITE YOU DO NOT CONTROL) and you are asked to correct the issue, you will be unable to comply, which will likely result in a permanent suspension from the AdWords program. This has already happened to many affiliate marketers that used direct linking, or sold their site before a review found the issue.

Unfortunately, deleting the campaign will not resolve the issue either. Your only hope is to contact support, explain your situation in detail and hope that the reviewer that investigates your case is sympathetic to your dilemma.

Yes, you can advertise a site you don't own. In affiliate marketing land its called direct linking and some affiliates allow it, some dont. Generally if they do, they give you a list of phrases you can't bid on and generally its their branded words and product names.

This strategy used to be awesome, but as you can imagine, companies figured it out and just hired their own ppc people.

I would advise that novices stay away from this. The clicks can be very expensive. Go read up on perry marshall if you still want to do it.

What you are talking about is a bad approach, quality score gets reset quite frequently so you dont need to worry about that.

I'd want to do this to test traffic potential for keywords for local clients (law firms, doctors, etc). There would be no landing pages or anything fishy.
