Looking for the best way to track paid link building???

Hello fellow Warriors,

This is my first official thread and I hope y'all will be able to help me out.

I am working on a client's SEO and backlinking, for his local property reservation website. I have sent out linking requests to the local authority websites in the area that have pages devoted to lodging and reservation services. Most of the website owners have been very nice to add our site to their directory at no charge, except for a few.

For the sites that require paid inclusion I have asked and received visitor stats for the page placements, but the only way to tell if the money paid for the linking fee is justified, is to be able to track the clicks we receive. At the same time I know that correct linking is important for SEO.

My thought would be to set up a redirect with PrettyLinks or GoCodes to track the amount of links we get from their sites...???

Is this a good way to track clicks and still get the most out of the backlinking???

Any recommendations would be great

Thanks in advance for your help!

Doug

You should be able to monitor the clicks in google analytics from referring sites. I know how many visits I got from youtube, google, forums, web 2.0 sites, articles I have posted. That is unless you don't trust the data from analytics.

Yes, you can measure the visitors which come from those links, but it is impossible to measure the search result boosting power of any given link.
