Keyword Density

I launched a website about 8 day's ago, and when I was creating the content I sort of just followed my instincts and put the keyword every 100 words instead of using a software that was giving me a specific keyword density read out.

Well it's been 8 days and for the three targeted keywords I'm at the following ranks.

Primary keyword:

Secondary Keywords

The Google dance seems to be content to leave me there, and I'm in the midst of doing round two for my seo plan. Obviously I've been doing offsite seo, but I've been looking for any ways to tweak things.

I'm just a little worried that I might do more harm than good-by trying to fiddle around with the keyword density. I seem to be ranking well, so I was wondering if in people's opinions it's worth messing around with?

  • Depends on how important those rankings are to you.

    Are they actually driving free traffic to your site and, if so, are they converting?

    Or are you really going to need to be in the top 3 or possibly even number 1 to really get anything out of those keywords?

    Personally, I would fiddle around with the density and see if you can get to #5 and keep working the off-page stuff too. What the heck, go for it!

  • I'm going to need a top 3 ranking to see the kind of conversions I want, but the backlinking structure of my competition is downright pathetic. I've already outsourced some more backlinking, I'm actually fairly happy with my progress for only a weeks work.

    Maybe I should wait another week? Just to give Google a chance to find more of my backlinks, I'm using Linklicious in a controlled matter and my backlinks seem to be growing at a nice pace.

    Anyway thanks for your opinion, and welcome to warrior forum.

    • Have you checked the KW density of those outranking you? If their backlinks are poor as you mentioned, take a look at their onsite seo and try to match or beat.

  • When you adding keywords in post be sure that keywords are relevant with that post / articles. It's very important for page wise keywords implementation.

    • IMHO keyword density is outdated and not of much importance in modern day algorithms. If you can manipulate something so much to get high in the SERPS, then it is not going to work. That is why G has put emphasis on off page optimization (say 75%) to on page optimization (25%)

      Quality content is something that has the necessary keywords in limit and synonyms of that keyword sprinkled around as well.

      If the same keyword is going to be parroted around, then the naturalness and flair of the copy will definitely suffer.

  • I would have to agree with @raviv using keywords in a natural is certainly what Google is looking for throwing in some click here etc will help mix it up when posting. But to be ranked where you are at the moment you are obviously doing something right
