Extra Domains To Boost SEO - Is This Correct?

Hi Warriors,

Sorry if this has already been answered before but basically I would like to know if purchasing say an extra 5 domains and linked them all back to my main site, would this increase my page rankings?

I'm completely new to SEO and just thinking of the best ways to rank higher. I've read up a lot about SEO but one's always looking for better ways to rank higher.

Here's where I'm at:
Firstly my main site is based on the WordPress platform (purely for SEO purposes) with the all in one SEO pack installed and as far as I'm aware I think I've fully optimised it, however, I figured if I purchased 5 extra domains (related to my main site with the necessary keywords in them) and simply make them redirect (refresh) back to my main site, this would help.

If my above plans would be beneficial for page rank, would I also need to build say one page for every extra domain full of my main keywords, or could I just leave them blank and simply redirect them back to my main site?

I welcome all your input warriors

Ideally, you would like those domains to have a higher PR, that way the links back to your site would feel that PR. Just buying domains, throwing up a page, and linking back is not going to give any significant boost until those new domains gain trust.

Long term this can be very beneficial, but keep in mind that you need to build up those websites as well. If you don't do anything with them, then may not even get indexed (worse case scenario).

You can make those domains about anything you want. I would suggest that you cover either secondary keywords or related keywords that you are not targeting on your primary site. This will allow you to cast a wider keyword net...

Who knows... one of those sites could end up being more profitable than your intended money site.... stranger things have happened.

Marky this is one of the main tools of professional SEOs. The mistake most make is that they spend all their time trying to build up one site with selected keywords. When you get down to backlinking you should have links to sites where anchor text does not matter only passing on PR. Why? Because there are plenty of sites that will not allow you to link with anchor text or your link will be too spammy with anchor text and removed. Building up other sites and then achor text linking to your money site from them (different Ips as someone pointed out) allows you to use and keep those links in your strategy.
