For wordpress what is your best adsense theme?
#adsense #theme

I have heard there was theme was made because of adsense, i believe it is called prosense or something? Not sure though, never used it.

In my opinion, any themes can work well, it only depends on your ads replacements. Usually adsense in the contents are good.

I like this the theme used here:

Speeding Offences | Speed Traps, Speed Cameras, Speeding Ban

Widget ready for the three Adsense code blocks. Fast and efficient. Very small footprint.

I don't believe in purchasing "Micro Niche Adsense Templates." Too generic and ugly...

I whipped together a plain old HTML/CSS stylized template. It looks good and gets the job done. Simple theme, not much too looks at... Two small pictures used as descriptions. and 2 Adsense blocks: ad links (120x90) under sidebar and text ads (300x250) above the beginning of the content.

        CHEERS!

Sorry didn't see this before posting. But yes, Scott Blanchard's Clickbump Engine coupled with his Jumpstart plugin is hands-down the easiest, best, most streamlined theme system for Adsense sites. I can't say enough good things about Scott's stuff, and I'm not an affiliate.

My CTR's have an average range of about 30% to 70%. The Clickbump theme focuses on what's important - SEO (and with it, fast load time), simplicity, ease of use, and Adsense layout, among other things. Every aspect of the theme and its templates has been optimized. You literally don't have to do hardly anything. The Jumpstart plugin practically sets up the site for you. I can get a site from just a domain name to a fully functional Adsense niche site with several pages of content and a post within minutes. The cool thing is that the quickness of installation and setup doesn't detract from the quality of the theme itself. And where else can you get 8 or so themes for the price of 1? They look great too. Some look good for Adsense sites, others look great for product review sites, and others I use for local business sites. I currently own and manage over 300 websites and Scott's theme is on every single one. If you're already making money with Adsense, put Scott's theme on your site and your CTR will instantly jump up at least an additional 10%. I can personally guarantee you that.

I know this sounds a bit 'salesy' and all, but I have nothing to gain from promoting Scott's stuff. I'm not an affiliate. Just proud to be using the most powerful Adsense-optimized theme out there that allows you to slaughter the competition...

I build my own. You can't simply have 'one size fits all'. The ones that are making money are the ones that can change the look and feel according to their users. Although there are certain placements that do perform better than others, I use that as my foundation and then build up from there.

It takes a little longer but the results are always better. If you're using WordPress then I use Artisteer. very quick and effective. Lots of people will knock it but its perfect for pretty much everything.

    Hope that helps.

Forgot to mention that prior to Clickbump I had tried HeatMap, BlueSense, Thesis, and a few others. My CTR's are now double what they used to be with those themes.

At the same time I do agree with nettech - if you can tailor the layout, colors, etc. to your visitors, that will yield the best results, but obviously alot of testing would be involved, which means valuable time spent. Having many sites, though, I find myself always looking for speed and efficiency that doesn't sacrifice quality and, in turn, profit, so I need a one-size-fits-most solution - and I'd say Clickbump is a one-size-fits-99% solution lol.

        Good point John.

One key thing to consider about my theme is that with it and through it, I'm able to create (or in theory, recreate) virtually any theme in existence, with just a few lines of css (less than 100) and a few tiny background images.

For example, I'm testing a "bluesense-like" template now, installed as a premium add on template inside CE4, that is essentially a "remix" of bluesense.

The difference, is that with my one theme, you have multiple "templates" (like this bluesense style example I'm testing) that both come with the system for one click selection or can be added with my one click template uploader.

This particular template is one of dozens I can apply on my site, at the click of a button, without ever changing "themes". One theme, unlimited designs.

And in every case, they all share the same fast loading, high converting, google loving xhtml/css core markup. This is the key to why sites running my theme consistently outrank their competitors with very little effort.

For example, I get emails like this often enough to know I'm doing something right...

        (first email)
        Scott,

First off I have to say I am excited to get my hands on your theme :-)

I have a handful of competitors that are using your system and they beat me in ranking every time.
The sad thing is that I have a better domain name then they do and most of the time I have the .com, which sucks.

(second email after I asked how he found me)

Scott, as a business owner myself I can understand your curiosity in knowing where I found you.

To be of even more detail, let me tell you what happened.

I have the website where I was ranked on the first page of Google for a few months, outranking one of my competitors sites. Tried to shake him loose but got the Google dance instead. I am nowhere to be found right now, sucks. Anyways, I checked the source code on his site and did some research which lead me to your site after a few Google searches. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell.

OK, I can see pretty clearly that you all love clickbump (especially the affiliates lol) and I'm sure it is an awesome template.

However, as far as CTR goes, the adsense placement is essentially the same as with many other FREE templates that look good as well.

Theoretically, if you get a nice looking theme and place the adsense in the same optimal places, it should not make a huge difference right?

      Perhaps I'm missing something obvious.

It should definitely make a difference in the CTR once the user lands on your site. But its the "lands on your site" part that is the real key to maximizing adsense revenue; and that's the part that trips most people up ;-)

CTR is not all about ad placement. If that were the case, you'd get roughly the same CTR with just about any theme, which is definitely not the case. I believe the surrounding area and the overall 'look' and 'feel' also has alot to do with it. Colors too. You'd be hard pressed to get the CTR's I'm getting with any ol' conventional theme with the same ad placement.

Well maybe it's time for me to try some new themes then.

It's just that I've seen so many posts saying things like "the theme is the least of your concerns" in answer to posts like this one.

So I simply chose a simple theme that looked decent and had great functionality. Unfortunately, my ctr is abysmal even with the "preferred" ad placement. I never really thought that the theme might be playing a big role but maybe it is.

Well if you're doing Adsense, the theme should be your main concern, next to the obvious ones like SEO and keyword research. And I'm not an affiliate.

I s'pose I shouldn't have used the word "affiliate". It was an assumption and you know what they say about those...

If anyone has had significantly positive experiences with any free WP themes for adsense ctr, I'd love to hear about it.

However, as far as CTR goes, the adsense placement is essentially the same as with many other FREE templates that look good as well.

Theoretically, if you get a nice looking theme and place the adsense in the same optimal places, it should not make a huge difference right?

        Perhaps I'm missing something obvious.
I think the whole point of Wordpress themes is that they are easy to install and easy to use as a CMS.

People like me, who know HTML and CSS, might not rely on Wordpress at all.

For example, when I see a theme that I like, I don't buy it. I reverse-engineer it because I have the necessary HTML skills to be able to re-create it myself.

But not everybody has those skills or wants to spend the time and energy to do so, so they buy the themes.

I agree, too many options will make your head spin. I just want something simple yet affective.

I've seen TONS of those crappy looking lime green 1 page content sites while doing niche keyword research and always wondered what template they're all using...thanks to this thread I now know they are all using clickbump.

I'm getting 9-13% ctr with bluesense...but I'm probably going to test out clickbump just because I've seen so many of the clickbump sites in the SERPS, it must be working for them.

*The site that hosts the bluesense theme is down so I posted the theme on my site, hope it's ok to post a link here... noobstarter.com/bluesense-adsense-theme

Thanks for your interest eyetrap. Just so you know, the green and black (one of the most successful adsense themes that's ever been launched) is the brainchild of John Robinson (aka XFactor). I just turned it into a WordPress template and optimized it for SEO and speed.

However, my theme (aka ClickBump) has evolved quite a bit since I launched it around this template and I have over 2 dozen layouts that all have the same high converting ad layout, but serve as variety of niches and sites - everything from micro-niche sites like the ones you are seeing everywhere to full blown professional business class sites.

For fans of the "DoshDosh" BlueSense theme that's unfortunately no longer supported, I have a "Bluesense Remix" if you are interested in using that look:

There are a ton of great themes out there however, I think it's best to go with a company or a person who is continually building and updating their themes for the benefit of their customers. The amount of money they charge is minimal compared to the effort that goes into them.

  • One other thing. I notice that we have a much higher CTR on straight up HTML pages. That is compared to Wordpress posts.

Food for thought. So we link from our blogs to short little HTML pages that have a MUCH higher CTR.

Try it - you'll like it..

i would like to hear from anyone who has used and compared clickbump and ctr theme. As a prospective buyer it's either one or the other for me.

I get the impression CTR is newer and has some funcitonalities not present in clickbump. It also seems easier to get to grips with. Can anyone tell me if this is an accurate assessment?

Just wanted to chime in here and remind a few folks that using any specific Adsense theme is no magic solution to earning a ton of money with Adsense. If you're content is garbage and your on-page SEO is weak, you can run into issues of not triggering the right ads. If your ads aren't targeted to the visitor, you'll have a low CTR no matter WHAT kind of theme you use.

I also see a lot of folks who drum up ugly little Adsense sites with poor content that nearly force the visitor to either exit the site or click on an ad. While some people prefer to build sites in this manner to "grab more clicks", I don't think sites like these add much value to the visitor in the end.

If you have an Adsense site that is focused on providing information - then provide good, quality information that people WANT to read! If you write great content that people actually read and that same content triggers relevant ads for things that people want, you'll have no issues achieving a high CTR. Not only that, but if you end up with a high-traffic site and actually deliver visitors that convert for Content Network advertisers, you could end up with a higher EPC rate from ad buyers who are specifically targeting your website.

Anyway, my point here is that a specific Adsense theme isn't the end all be all for increasing your CTR and earnings. If you provide great content that is readable, engaging and properly optimized and give your visitors something that they want, only then may these themes be able to help you increase your CTR.

The only paid Adsense theme I use on a few of my sites currently is CTRTheme. After using this theme across a few niche websites, I can say that your CTR can depend on your niche market as well. I have some websites that experience anywhere from 18 to 25 percent CTR rates, while others using the same theme will only hover around 5 percent. So, from what I've personally experienced, the niche can be yet another determining factor of your overall CTR.

scraper on right, towards middle of page (middle right of ur page), this type of placement kicks ass.

Well most of the themes are now adsense ready themes which lets you to place adsense code on more targeted areas but still I think making reader to click on adsense needs some extra effort now. You should be able to at least edit the header to place the adsense on most clickable position. Similarly placing in them posts will also increase the chances of click

You can make work any theme for you if you know how to tweak it.
If you're willing to pay for the theme then I'd suggest go for either CTR or Clickbump. My personal fav is CTR.
For free you can go for Monosense/Prosense if looking for simpler theme.
For better look and feel you can go for free version of Flexibility3 theme.
    Hope it helps

I have been using free and custom premium themes for some time internally and for clients with great success.

Upon starting a new project I started to look around for opinions on themes that were properly optimized right out of the shoot. The more I read the more I was moved to check out Scott's "Clickbump Engine".

The more that I dug into the product the more passion that I could see in the development of the product. So, naturally I made the purchase.

Upon purchasing the product I had about "6" questions that I needed answered (some technical and some opinions) before I started this project. So, I fired off an email to Scott and thought that I would be doing the norm - waiting for a few days or never hearing back at all (way to common these days). However, within like an hour or so - BAM - all of the questions that I had asked had been answered.

      Absolutely Amazing Customer Service...

I would recommend this product and the support that comes with it to anyone who is serious about developing blogs!
