Blog Commenting - How to find High PR blogs in your niche

First of all.. I only search for high PR blogs (3+) and I don't believe in spamming so I always ensure I read at least most of the article and leave a quality comment that is related to it. I also like to build both nofollow and dofollow links so this strategy doesn't differentiate between the 2.

This is my strategy for finding high quality blogs to comment on...

1. Install a toolbar or addin that will show you the pagerank of each site in the google search results. I use a firefox addin called 'linkextend' which shows the pagerank and alexa rank in a bar next to every search result on the page.

2. Paste this into google search...

site:.com inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"

Replace the ADD YOUR KEYWORD part with whatever keywords you search to find pages relevant to your niche. If you don't get many results then try using less specific keywords or removing the quotation marks.

This will give you a list of blogs that are accepting comments and won't require you to login first.

You will be able to quickly scroll through the list to find high PR blogs relevant to your niche and skip the rubbish ones.

You can also replace the .com in the after the site: part with .net .org .edu & .gov to find blogs other than .com.

You'll still find a few blogs where comments are closed or ones where you need an account but for the most part using this strategy really cuts down your time spent trawling rubbish sites and will help you laser target those quality backlinks.

Could you please explain how? I tried SEO quake but had problems with it using Firefox 4 beta, If its worthwhile I might go back to firefox 3.6 instead.

Does it show the pagerank in the search results or just when you go to the page?

It works fine with the latest stable version of Firefox. It shows the PR of the pages page on the search results page itself and it lets you sort them in descending / ascending order.

Enable it and do a google search. You will understand

Okay I just gave it a try but it only sorts the sites via PR one page at a time which means you're only sorting the first 10 results. Is there a way to have it sort all the results via PR?

If not, I think I'll go back to linkextend as seo quake tends to clutter up the screen.

Just go to the second page and sort it. Likewise you can sort every 10 results on eacch google search page.

But these free methods are only for the people who can't afford to buy ScrapeBox.
ScrapeBox scrapes thousands of links in a few seconds and with another click it sorts all links according to the Page Rank!

Is it possible to get much traffic from forum posts? Or is this method really just to get backlink count up?

ALSO: Is there a difference (in the SE's eyes) between links in the forum comment and links in a signature?

Just go to the advanced search on google and change the 'results per page' to 100 and press the arrow to sort by page rank.

This is a nice tip. It's always better to take action than to be worried about technicalities.

Well I do follow this instructions but there seems a little problem. For some specific keyword it doesn't appear so much good set of blogs to comment on. For this I have tried some other with a variation. Like:
    1. Go to google.com and then to "more" and drop down to blogs and then put your keyword. this may help you find several blogs. this is more relevant then the stated method. But the major problem here is you may find blogs that does not allow comment or need to sign up.
    2. sign up and then commenting is not a problem coz if you do a better relevant comment then you can easily put your keyword hyper linked with html code.
    3. simply put "your keyword + blog" in the search option. this may also help you to find a set of relevant blogs.

But The all above search does not give you a quality set of blog. So, I want to know, if there any other way to find good quality set of blog to comment on? Please help if you know.

Thanks for sharing the technique and I think seoquake add on is really helpful in finding those sites.

  • Thanks for the post. I've been using a keyword tool like MS to find high PR links. Basically by reverse engineering other sites, you can see exactly where they are getting all their high PR links from and then just try and add your site to those pages. It seems to work well with blog commenting.
