  • I'd go for .info. Much cheaper and just as effective.

    • You must use the geotargeting options in Google Webmaster Tools to configure .co domains and other cctld's so they rank globally. If you don't do that then your domain will just rank locally (on google.com.co).

  • .co is good, but not as good as .com .net .org, I suggest u to go with .info

    • No, it does rank just as good, if better than these TLD's.
I wouldn't touch .ORG with a plastic one, it's dominated by spammers and hoaxes and it's not on par with other TLD's (like .CO).
Morons will post .CO is for Columbia. Try telling that to Google and 99.9% of users on the net that have no idea of its origin.
  • well the demand for .co is increasing and all good keyword domains have being taken while .info still exists.
This kinda make me wonder why .co is expensive same as .com and in demand

    • Agreed. I'd suggest to take both .co and .info (.info for brand protection) and make .info point to .co

  • well, why dont you just go ahead, buy it and conduct some experiments

    • and don't forget, share with us the result ....
  • I have never look to the domain name when I find the title on google search. That means the real visitor will not ask about the domain name
  • I have one .info domain ranking #1 for three top keywords in a competetive market. It's all about putting quality content up and having plenty of backlinks.
  • Godaddy has .co's on sale for $12 this week if anyone is thinking of getting any

    • .CO domains at GoDaddy are $7.49 if you use coupon code SUPERCO at checkout.

  • .CO are new.

Unless you give them some time (weeks/months/years) you can't really tell.

Quick note: .EU and .TV domain names didn't rank high for years BUT NOW they are dominating some top PT keywords.

    • I agree you have to wait. But you need to grab them now, because when they unleash their full potential, all of them will be gone
  • I have one .co and only because it is close to another similar domain.

    So far, not worth it.

    • GoDaddy has a great marketing process. They've produced a higher priced product that is very close in name to one of their bread and butter products. They are charging a premium price for it and they bought super bowl ad space.

They are betting a fair amount of money that they will be able to get the public at large to hear dot co in their heads instead of dot com when someone tells them a website name.

And selling premium price products to folks who missed out on the original. I think it will be interesting to see if dot co really takes off as a viable branding alternative.

  • .info is a good choice because .co is still so new to everybody. Unless you are going to wait awhile until it catches on, like everything else that's "new," you won't get good rankings right now on that one. You might look into .us, .biz or .net. Even .ws would be better than .co. But to be on the safe side, use the .info if you can't use .com.

Do not listen to this person. They have very little knowledge about Domain Names and SEO. If they did they would not have stated that garbage they posted.
Don't touch .US, .BIZ or .WS. Stick with .CO, .COM or .NET, or a ccTLD if you're geo-targeting.
Also, .INFO is classified as a B Grade Domain Name, as is .ORG. Cheap and nasty.
Do your research and learn from those that have been doing this a long time. .CO will have strong resale value in 5 years. Really strong.

Currently, beyond .com, .net and .org, the general public isn't aware of any other TLD. Most people don't know .info, .biz, .mobi and others even exist (paradoxically they're much more familiar with .co than these).
  • i purchased a .co domain yesterday from godaddy , got indexed in about 20minutes. Seems the same as any at the moment
  • I doubt if .co will catch on. Seems like another gimmick.
  • .co is a new type of domain. As compared to .com and .org and .info it is less popular. I am not sure is this give you more traffic as compared to other domains.
