Hi warriors. Okay so here is the deal. Right now I have about 5 domains. I am trying to focus my seo efforts on two in particular...(More like hire someone else for the seo)

The first site is Stop Panic Attacks Dead in Their Tracks and the other is

http://www.HowToCookAHam.net

The panic attack site is actually a blogger blog and the domain is not an exact match phrase and isn't listed in google at all! However I do have 75 backlinks to the panic attack blog. It is 3 months old. "Panic attacks" gets about 300,000k searches a month

The ham domain IS an exact match phrase and is listed in google on page 5 number 6. I do NOT have any backlinks to this wordpress blog and its less than 2 weeks old. I created this blog in anticipation of Easter. This exact phrase gets about 60k searches via google and 45k local searches a month.

Should I focus on the ham blog since it is time sensitive or should I focus my seo efforts on the panic attack blog since its older and has some backlinks?

ALSO any suggestions on how I can improve my sites is greatly appreciated.

  • Tough call.

I would go ham, but I just found you will be up against some big guns there on page 1.

So many things I'd do to that site too.

Between the two, I would clean up the Ham site,

    IE:

That needs to go, clean up the sidebar where the title of one of the categories goes into the back drop, Get some ham picture to replace that turkey up top and the others, don't stick a link in so soon (your reference to Ron's site), and look into signing up directly with a company(s) that will deliver the hams on order - I have a friend who did this with the organic turkeys at thanksgiving and did well.

Anyway, this was probably not the advice you were looking for, lol - but before building any more back links I'd clean up the site, get some more content on it -

You know, this is like 10 more articles (at least!) you should have on your site. I would go into the history, detail, etc about each of these things.

Take that content, add the articles to the article directories, and find some video or better yet make some with that keyword.

You're off to a good start and If you are looking to rank I think you'll do quicker with the ham - JMO.

PS: G does a dance thing and a whole major shuffle about every 3-4 months. I'm not sure when the next date is but you may get in there before Easter.

And if you can swing it do get yourself Market Samurai so you can get an overview of all those front page sites and have some idea of how much work to get there.

    Good luck!

    • Thank You for the feedback! It's greatly appreciated and I will hop right on those things to clean up my blog. Since I still have a lot of work to do on the ham blog I think I am going to promote the panic attack blog while I get the ham blog worked on. Even though I would like to have it ranked before easter, it might be a really tall order so at least if I get the panic attack blog up on page 1 of the serps (via outsourcing) it will buy me some more time on the ham blog to really make sure its ready for the fall. Thank You for the suggestions and I will definitely get to working on that

  • Mate, these terms don't get anywhere near the amount of searches you think they do. How to Cook a Ham got 6600 local searches last month. Panic attacks doesn't get 300k searches/month. It's actually about 20k local searches and 40k worldwide.
