How long does it take for google to index a blog post

I posted a new blog about two days ago and was worried as to why it was still not in google. Someone on this forum suggested i ping it which is did. Now i want to know how long it's suppose to take after pinging before it's indexed by google.

Can take from 1 minute to 30 days. Pinging is an option but it is still not 100% necessary.

Just backlink, bookmark and ping. Also have a sitemap setup and send your XML sitemap to Google.

100% agree with that. On top, you might want to create an rss feed and send that out to rss directories and ping that as well. Also, how often you're being crawled depends on how frequently you publish content. If you post an article once a month, don't expect the spiders to visit your site every day.

At first make site map for your site.

Always submit your post link to Add your URL to Google

Then share them to social networking sites. Also ping them. If you have a site with high traffic, then make link with that.

That question I think only Google can answer. It is best that you will put links on site that has high PR or Dofollow. For me personally, that is the best thing to do.

You can do social bookmarking. In my own experience, social bookmarking helped me a lot when it comes to indexing.

  If you submit your blog post to site like digg, they get indexed pretty quickly. Google will also index blog posts really quick when the blog is update every day. Mine are usually in a number of hours and I rarely use digg to get the indexing done.
  
  If you want to speed up the indexing, use social bookmarks and other sharing sites.

So i guess you don`t use wordpress... This CMS platform has pinging options which will reduce your managing time.

Anyway its a bit to early to concern about indexing, but if you still want to have it done faster this are some working methods :

*Bookmarking
*Submitting to directories
*Building quality backlinks.

Bookmark and backlink helps a lot.. But it mainly depends upon spider bots to crawl ur webite and get it indexed.. If you have proper .com domain then it will take less tym as compared to and other domain.

  Why regulary ping your blog? That will look spammy, just leave it natural when it starts to build. Adding backlinks to build the ranking, without pinging them.

If the blog is already been indexed, that might not take long for Google to crawl your website and index new posts/articles.

You can also setup how often Google will crawl your website through Google Webmasters Tool. Just read their best practices.

Index ONE new post is one thing... Index a NEW blog/site is a complete different thing.

To get new posts indexed faster nothing beats a credible and trusted site - you write, post it, and that new stuff gets indexed in seconds.

But to get a new site indexed, I just have to ask WHY you need to have it indexed so quickly. But the answer is been given above: Rss feeds, sitemap, bookmark, and best of all, a backlink form a trusted source.

But to be honest I don't get the whole idea of getting a new site indexed in minutes, why is that?

Never heard of a competition for it.

dont waste your time waiting for google to do what they do, create more content and post it on your domains. then do all the bookmarking (try not to get banned crap).
