Adsense EPC Drops After Switching Adsense Accounts - What to Do?

I recently took on a partner in my business and we formed a new business.

Instead of just changing my Adsense account to reflect my new business name and info we setup a new account and moved my sites to the new adsense account.

I've noticed that the earnings per click have dropped significantly since the move and the only reason I can think of is that we moved the sites to the new adsense account.

The average earnings for one site were around $.42 per click and now they're down around $.20 per click.

It's a long story why I moved the sites but it's done.

I've thought about closing the newer account and just moving the sites back to the old account and changing the account info to reflect the new business but I'm afraid that will set off the red flags.

Don't know what to do.

Any advice?

Don't you mean you just changed the adsense code on the sites?
There's no switching of sites, just the code.

It's possible that you would see a drop. If your old account had channels
that were targeted, and adwords followers, that would not be the case
in new code on the site. It's possible that your history, which contributes
to CPC, was also put back to square one.

I am still not sure by what you mean "moving the sites back to the old account."
Toss up the old adsense code and see what happens. If it still is not as it
was, then it was natural fluctuations. You are never guaranteed any
    return.

Give it at least 2 weeks either way.

thank you for posting, yes I mean that I put the new code on the sites as you stated.

That makes sense what you're saying.

But if I put the old adsense code on the sites won't that look strange to Google.

From my understanding they don't want anyone to have more than 1 adsense account and switching the code back would seem like it would make it obvious that there is more than 1 account in place although there is no harmful intention in it.

      thanks again for your input

Thought I would post my reply that came via IM.

A little back-peddling on my part.

It should not look fishy. But who knows? If that's your worry,
then be patient, but set up channels and words exactly like the
        old one.

Google allows more than one ID on a page, so 3 ad blocks could
have 3 different publisher IDs. That's why it probably won't look
        fishy.

But I see your point about 2 accounts. Always err on the side of caution.

The flipside was what you did first. If you thought putting a different adsense
code on a page would not be a red flag, then changing it back should not
        be either.

Reasoning: If you believe google is actually watching things closely, and sees a new ID
on your page, what will they think?

Don't know if they still do this, but you might want to read up on "Smart Pricing."

Whatever you do don't change the account info to a new name like you said you were considering. I tried this before and it's not a good option. It'll get your account shut down.
