301 Redirects for affiliate links

Hi guys,
I'm new to posting on this forum, but I've gotten a lot of advice from reading threads in the past when I was searching for answers.
OK so I am setting up IDevAffiliate for my new product and did not purchase the SEO Links package. I can see the benefits of doing a 301 redirect on affiliate links for link building purposes, but I've read elsewhere that affiliates do not like these links for various reasons.
So my question is, is the SEO benefit really worth it? Do affiliates really not like the links that show as site.com/100.html?
Right now I'm leaning toward continuing without the upgrade but I'd like to hear from people more knowledgeable on this subject. Thanks.
