Take the keyword phrase 'dog training'.

An example of a broad match would be: "how to find a training facility for my dog"
An example of a phrase match would be: "cheap dog training"
And then of course exact match would be: "dog training"

Think of the exact match as being exclusive. This is why you want an exact match domain if you are targeting that specific keyword phrase. Hope this helps.

      Hi raymond,

Your post looks an awful lot like an automated post by a spambot with badly formatted spun content. Or maybe you just have a malfunctioning keyboard. I'm going to assume you are not human, but just another spambot unless you reply to my question: Context matters, for what situation are you looking at the search numbers for, targeting a niche, targeting traffic, PPC advertising?

If I get a human-like reply I will share some useful information.

lol.im not a spambot but thanks for thinking im a bit of a dislexic writer! lol

seriously, im just a little confused as to the google keyword tool.i dont understand how there can be such a gap between broad and exact, like conservatory music comes up 74000 monthly broad and 170 exact ? can there realy be 73830 differnt ways to say conservatory music in the same sentence or even page? any how it does and thats it.period.whats the best tactic for finding high traffic keywods (the name of the game) and can i seriously compete for the number one slot just by having the word in my domain? its adsense i like mixed in with affilliate marketing.i want to get high paying cpc on my site with lots n lots of unique content!

sorry for this long question i cud talk all day! as im not a SPAMBOT! LOL

Don't forget - broad match can be just any of your terms - so how many searches per month do you think the term "music" is used in a search phrase - probably 73,000!

Of course there are that many combinations. Technically there are an infinite number of combinations, but only that many have been searched.

Don't forget the new '+' option on broad match, it means that any keyword with a + in front of it must appear in the search phrase. So +conservatory +music will pretty much do what you want. Use it with negatives to filter out the phrases you don't want.
Don't think it is available in many countries yet, but it makes the whole keyword specifying process about 50 times easier.
