Hi,
I have been finding longtail keywords using Market Samurai. The guys at MS suggest that you use broad match when locating these keywords, yet some gurus have suggested exact match. I'm interested to know which one you think is best.
Thanks.

I always go with exact match, atleast then you wont be disappointed with the traffic as you might be if you were to estimate with the broad matches

I have been using exact match because as you say you don't get dissapointed with the traffic if it's poor. It means a lot of longtail keywords have very little or no traffic using exact match rendering them useless. Yet using broad match many more longtail keywords have a lot more traffic. So it is tempting to use broad match.
      Regards.

The long tail keywords are best to do SEO for any website but they need to get final after a research over niche of your website.

I always look at the exact match, at least that way I'm sure of what I can expect. I can get a result in the thousands with a broad search, while the exact search might be only 100 or less. I've seen that happen before.

      Hi Leslie,
I agree with you but the guys at MS seem to disagree.

When you are going for long tail keywords, I assume you are researching for adding pages NOT for buying EMD. In this case I suggest to look at broad match, Since it gives you lots of options to choose. Keep in mind broad gives you the idea about the traffic of all combination of keywords gets. So your site will get only a small ratio.

I never agree with anyone just for the sake of agreeing. I do what I know works for me, even if some big shot tells me to do it otherwise. I can be stubborn that way

Exact match is good for SEO. But, it is not all for SEO.

Ranking in search engine depends on SEO. Do SEO properly both on page and off page.

Do related, DoFollow, high PR related blog commenting. Social bookmarking, link wheel, forum are also very effective for traffic.
