Ranking #1 for keywords in the domain

Hi all,

I posted this in the wrong forum yesterday and it got deleted, so here it is again. I have the website retrievedeletedphotosDOTcom, currently ranked #10 in google SERP for the keyword "retrieve deleted photos".

I am currently running a backlinking and press release campaign only for the keyword "retrieve deleted photos". I'm worried that because the site is static (i.e. no blog or articles section) that I won't be able to get up to number 1 for google SERP.

Do you guys think a blog/article section, fresh content, or a high index count are vitally important? Since I am only going after this one keyword, I'm not really sure. No one else in the top 10 has the exact keyphrase in their domain, title, or h1 like I do.

Thanks - I'm interested in seeing what you guys think.

  • I think a blog section could certainly be helpful to your efforts. I also think you will still be able to move up the rankings without adding one. If you add enough back links you will climb. That being said... Adding fresh content is going to give you more chances for visitors as well as adding more internal back linking power.
  • Fresh and unique content can really help you rank higher. I have seen good content sites get ranked on page 1 for medium competition keywords within 2 days.

  • Static websites work just fine. You don't need a blog, unless you really want to have one.

    • there's no matter your site static or dynamic. right content and seo can raise you to 1st place on google with no problem
  • We have a client who has only 1 page and is ranking in top 5 for a two word keyword.

So based on this I dont think it really matters as long as your content is related to your keyword.

  • Thanks guys --- I will try my best at static and go from there
  • Easier to gain a TRUE fan base that way... repeat customers are the best customers.
  • Are you sure it's worth it? There doesn't seem to be enough traffic to spend to much time or money on this keyword.

    • good question --- well, I've done a basic analysis with market samurai and if their SEOT numbers are right, then yea I think it is worth it--- but only if I make number 1 (maybe #2)
    • Fresh content on a regular basis will get you to the #1 position. If you have the time do it.

  • It all depends upon what you're trying to achieve... if you're trying to build an Authority Site, then by all means add a blog, aritcle section etc... and get traffic from multiple keywords.

BUT, if you're simply doing micro niche marketing, i.e. earn adsense money doing say $3 a day... then a simple 1 page website is fine.... and all you do is build enough links to get to say rank #5. In this case you don't want to be taking too much time building your site.... but simply move onto the next.
