5250 backlinks in one day, will I get a google slap?

Hi guys.

There's a gig on fiverr offering 5250 backlinks. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there's a daily limit on backlinks?

Will my site get slapped if I do this?

  • 5250 links out of nowhere? Unless this is similar to your normal link velocity, you will probably be penalized.

    • Um no. If you really believe that, I'll happily give you my sites to send 5,250 links to. Thanks in advance.
  • It depends if they are all indexed or not, I have blasted a site with 5000 links, then they were naturally indexed and I saw no penalty.

  • Really? Link me to this gig please.

Let me know if it's safe or not. Thanks!

  • Your links should come in in a natural way but if you have gotten your site established you shouldn't have any issues . please let us know what you decided and the out come!

    • Since you have no control over competitors submitting your site for huge backlink orders, how could it be fair to get penalized?

  • If your site is not new meaning just a couple of months old, there shouldn't be a problem.

I once submitted a new site with some autogenerating links script. 2000+ Links in a couple of minutes.
Took Google about 2-5 days to get the site out of the search results COMPLETELY. It never went back. The site (and domain) was about 1-2 months old.

I did the same with a site that had more backlinks and was about 2-3 years old. No problems there.

  • Yes I'm afraid if you build more than 5000 links in one day, Google will send Matt Cutts round to your house to hit you around the face with a wet fish.

Seriously though, I don't think it's worth the risk. I would much rather have lots of backlinks added over long periods of time than a big influx of backlinks in just one day.
  • it depends on a lot of factors, if your BBC.co.uk, not really a big deal, if your auntjunespankakesandribs.com, your pretty well going to get bitc# slapped and violated by google bot...
  • Yes, the limit is exactly 4999. If you get 4999 you'll be OK, but if you get 5000 you'll be f&cked and your site will never rank again:rolleyes:

One thing to keep in mind that if you put up 5k in a day, without any sort of additional indexing step on your part, Google might crawl a few hundred of them in a day. It takes awhile for Google to find and crawl everything.

You can´t get something valuable for 5$, and I hope this makes sense.
It´s not about how many backlinks you build in just one day, because
that´s not adding value to your site, nor to Google.

Google gives a **** of backlinks from untrusted and invaluable sites (which you
will get to over 99%+). I don´t know the service but it smells pretty fishy to me.

Build links through several sources, slows and increase the structure over time.
This could be a fiver too much for your site: means you could loose it and get
    punished by Sir Google.

    • I agree, that sound fishy. You know the saying, quality over quantity! You choose the rest
  • If you do get google slapped how do you recover your site being searched well for keywords?
    Thanks,

    • It's happened to me a few times but only if the links were pinged. My site has always jumped back up the very next day and was indexed better than it was before.

  • as long as your website is not brand new, but do not ping the links let google find them naturally. i personally do not find any benefit with these links as they are generally very low quality links
  • If it is crawl by google in one day then it can be problem. There will be no problem if it is approved with passage of time.
  • No penalty will happen. I'll give you two reasons why.

    1) I've personally blasted 2000 links a day to one of my sites for 15 straight days. No penalty.

    2) Just because you build 5000+ links in one day doesn't mean Google is going to find them all at the same time.

There are some instances where link-spam can hurt you. 5000+ porn and pharma link would be particularly bad.
  • Some of the comments on this thread are just incorrect in that people assume Google can't keep track of massive amounts of metadata on spam sites, red flags and bad neighborhoods.

Getting penalized for backlinks can be the result of a group of flags that Google has for the "site neighborhood" of each backlink, and the Page Rank of the backlink sites, but for a negative kickback such as the "Google Slap", it is an issue of if any of these sites have already been flagged or have a 0 Page Rank from a problem. If a flagged site or even a site in a "bad neighborhood" links to your site, it will catch up with you.

Is it fair? Can your competitor just link bad sites to you to hurt you? Definitely, but the reality is that competitors either don't know about this very black technique or they don't have time to chase down their competitors with bad backlinks, but it is definitely something that exists. For people to say that this level of indexing (including negative flags) does not exist really shows either a naivety or just a lack of IT understanding.

Reading the comments on this thread it seems like there are a wide variety of opinions on this issue. I know for a fact that if you buy backlinks that end up coming from groups of websites that have been flagged as spam websites or "bad neighborhoods" in the Google index, then your site will be penalized.

    • Thanks for the great post. Very informative. Keep doing that
    • I think the way you explained this is right and wrong. If you consider a penalty being that the links were once worth something, then google devalued them, then you're right. There is no personal penalty for links or you can do it for any and every competitor you have. Google just devalues the links.

If you would like to put this theory to test, you can try to get me penalized by linking to my site if you wish! lol.
  • It won't do you any good but it won't hurt you. I could blast a million links at a new site today and it wouldn't make my site increase in rankings.

So basically it's a waste of time.
