When to build backlinks?

Hi

I have decided to cut down some of my sites and start concentrating on 2.

One of which is pretty big, in the planning stages it is roughly 150 pages. With backlinking I tend to manually submit articles to top directories and then auto submit using AMR - this results in a good 1k submissions. I know all of these wont be accept so I tend to RSS submit the live links.

I will then combine this with guest posting, commenting etc (this I do manually)

Now my question is, as the site is new should I build the site first (ie 150 pages) and then build backlinks to each page/post.

or would it be best to create 1 post, build backlinks to it. Then create the 2nd page and build backlinks and so on?

Im not sure which method would be best since it is a new site.

  • Don't start building backlinks at 1 post. Ideally, you'd want to start after 2-4 posts so WHEN Google finds your site, it finds content.

    As time progresses and you get more content, just keep building backlinks accordingly.

    I would never recommend building backlinks to a 1-post website... because when Google comes to it, it only has a handful of words to determine what your site is about. However, if you have 2-4 posts, it has that many more words to help itself in the algorithm!

  • Build the content in a scaled manner, and apply the same to your linkbuilding. As someone else said, don't over think it, but try to get some quality links and mix it up so your link profile looks more natural.

  • Use social bookmarks. Some people swear they're not helpful, however, they are if use dedicate the time to them. If you use one, two, or even just three of them they might not make much of a difference. The best is to make use of relevant high PR backlinks. Use Angela Edwards backlinks.
