Hi

Ive been looking at the SERPS for some of my search terms and it seems some of my competitors are using other domains (that are showing up on a search result) but redirected to their main page, they ve been doing this a while so obviously G isnt too bothered. How many other domains is it safe to have pointing to my main site?

thanks

From my experience, as many as you like. But then, if your other domains are not getting any traffic, it's pretty much useless, unless of course you get on the first few pages of search engine results.

HI, only one URL would be a good idea to point to your URL because with that you can run easy SEO tasks for niche of your website.

The technical answer is "an unlimited number of sites"

But watch for potential SEO issues.

It still might be better to have multiple domains, subdomains or directories off the main site.

    Hope this helps

      Bruce is correct... "unlimited"...

Now, if you want said domains to produce traffic, then a redirect is not the proper strategy. Vanity URL's have limited potential depending on the niche and URL itself.

You can technically point as many domains as you like at another domain...But the questions is - why?

I can see if you have multiple sites in one niche and you decide to focus on just one of them... then point the others to your active site.

Just focus on good seo and content for your primary until it get's to the position you want.
You can then build out a second site (preferrably on a different class c IP) to rank along with your first site.

I have purchased the .com and .org built two different sites and ranked them both for the same term.

I just recommend you wait and see that the first site is performing how you had hoped before trying to rank a second site for that same term.
