Hi there,

This is my first thread so bare with me.

I'm currently constructing a new website and from what I gather backlinking is a great way to increase a websites ranking.

I've added my website to my signature as you can see below but I'm not quite sure if I have done this correctly.
Also, how can I check how many backlinks my site has at present. I'd like to be able to check my progress on a daily/weekly basis.

I'm a total newbie to all this so if you could keep your answers as simple as possible that would be great.

Any help is much appreciated.

    Hello friend, I have checked your signature below. You site is very good.
    Yeah your signature is correct. Yes we can check your site updation weekly or daily with google webmaster tool. And you can site present backlink with site:sitename paste it on google.

      Just visited google webmaster tool and that's something I'lllook into further.

      I don't understand the last part ie: And you can site present backlink with site:sitename paste it on google.

      So, how exactly does backlinking work? Is each post counted as one backlink?Please advise..

        This line means you can see and even check the backlinks to your site by using this query in Google.com. Well, backlink consider as a vote from webmaster and your site will get this when the no of inbound links your site is getting are relevant and following all the criteria.

      I've checked my site for backlinks with majesticseo and it says the following:

      Sorry there are no results for the query. Is the query a valid domain? Are you sure the query is spelt correctly?

    Exp: go to google page
    and then type
    site:yourwebsite and press enter
    you will find your backlinks....

      Thanks. I've done just that but all that appears are my website pages. How long do backlinks take to show up on google.

      Should I expect to see backlinks from this forum?

        Backlinks could take a while to show up or they could show up very fast. All depends on where your links are from. And if Guugle thinks the links are not relevant to your site they might not get indexed at all. I have had a LOT of my backlinks never show up in Guugle at all.

            They have the great tools called "internet browsers" these days. They let you "search" the interwebs for stuff you might be looking for.

    Google takes so much time for indexing backlinks. specially profile backlinks, blog backlinks.

    So just check your ranking against your keyword (used in backlinking) If you got success in it then its good. don't worry about where are your backlinks etc.

    I check your site ranking on Google and yahoo. your site is not ranked in Google and yahoo yet.
