Hey warriors,

I was wondering what would you look for if you wanted to rank on the first page of Google within a month for a fairly competitive niche?

I have no idea even how to begin keyword research, let alone pick the right keyword.

I've downloaded Market Samurai and it's not working for me. It keeps freezing. Is there any way I can search keywords without downloading anything?

What would you look for? Like, how many monthly searches, etc. How would you go about figuring out if you would be able to rank on the first page in that amount of time?

WHOA There Buddy, you want to rank for a fairly competive niche in under a month?

I've done it but it definitely takes a ton of work.

Google keyword tool is great. Type in your keywords there and go through each keyword that you might want to rank for.

Once you find one copy it and go back to google and type the keyword in quotes like this.

    "Make Money from home"

Then see how many competitors you have if its under 100,000 results you have a good chance to get ranked for it. Just make sure you focus on 5-6 different keywords instead of focusing on tons and tons.

Thats just the basics to it. Its what I did + taking massive action to get my sites ranked in under 2 weeks for Really competitive niches.

    Good Luck

    Try to use https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Look for keywords with low competition and high search volume, and try to rank for them using basic strategies!

What would you consider low competition?

What's a good competition:search volume ratio to follow in order to get my site ranked in a month?

Unfortunately, the Google External Keyword tool is not really a good way to determine competition. It shows you relative competition for PPC and is not really a good way to find SEO competition.

Don't bother searching in quotes, and looking at how many pages are competing for the keyword. It's worthless information. Look at the competitors on the first page. Pay attention to the link quantity and the link quality of each. That will tell you what you need to do to compete.

let's be clear here, there are no absolute numbers that you can use to "mathematically back into" a first page listing. All these tools can do is help you get a rough estimate as to the work required to get there. It's up to you to decide if you're willing to put in the effort.

Market Samurai is a good tool and should help you figure this out. If you can't get it to work, use SEOQuake (a firefox plugin).

Nevermind. I see what you mean, google actually tells you "high comp" "low comp"

I found 3 keywords that I'm interested in. One has Medium competition with around 40,000 Global monthly searches. Another has Medium Competition with 22,000 global monthly searches. The last one has 8,600 global monthly searches with medium competition.

What should I do now to see if I can rank for these?

Also, should I look for low competition keywords with less global monthly searches? Or will I be able to rank for medium competition keywords?

Google's tool gives the advertiser competition, not the amount of competing sites. Try and get MS tech support or forums if they can find the problem, or try TrafficTravis. More important then the amount of competing sites is the on page SEO and off page SEO.

Remember when doing your search in Google tools - to change it up and target your audience - i.e. global vs local and exact vs broad

    The truth is...

Google Keyword Tool doesn't give you their complete data. Those long tail keywords with low-mid search volume are not immediately available.

You have to dig deeper. This is also the reason why most softwares like Market Samurai doesn't give you the these "hidden keywords".

    Why?

Because the just pull the data from Google Keyword Tool.

You have to use multiple tools to get these "money" keywords.

I have to agree with you. I've tried at least 4 keyword research software programs and none have gotten me any closer to finding good keywords. I need to promote my web design services and I have a debt consolidation website that i cant seem to get anywhere with, for lack of good keywords.

I know a few people who swear by Market Samurai. When I used it, I kept saying to myself, this cant be right, this data doesnt seem accurate.

So I bought your ebook, and its good, a lot of creative ways to find keyword ideas, but Im stuck on testing and have a few questions - like after a few searches, google blocks my searches... 'Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network'. Any way around this? Is to ok to contact you here by pm?

There's really no way to get around with this. Google is starting to think you're using an automated tool that searches. It wasn't like that before.

You can PM me but I can't guarantee quick response. I'm not regularly in the forum anymore.

        Thanks!

After finding keywords using googles tool I usually take the highest searched but lowest competition site then use a site like spyfu(dot)com to search how much competition there is for that keyword, and how many of those competitors are advertising using adwords =)

Usually I will use Google Adwords keyword external tool for keyword analysis. While choosing the keywords you should consider the following factors,

      * Global search volume
      * Competitors
      * You can also use your GA account to analyze from which keyword, users are reaching your website.

Well, for keyword research competition analysis, position traffic, organic search ideas, knowing cost of per click in Adwords for all these stuff you have to use any good keyword tool.

We can say that Google Adwords keyword tool is very popular for this kind of stuff but it may not give you everything which you want as it is free and in free everything can't be gotten, we should use some smart route, spending a little and getting more, if we use any paid keyword tool, would save lots of time and money as well.

Getting a good position in a very competitive keyword in a month is kind of impossible really if you are looking for a stable position in the search results.

Yea as a few others have mentioned, the bad news is that SEO isn't supposed to be a quick thing. It's more of a marathon than a sprint. If the keyword is worth ranking for though, you won't mind waiting for it.

    Hey there,

Just to help others out and since I have to do all of the keyword research for our own sites, I've decided to throw in a bit of extra research for people here:
    http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...uple-days.html

    I'm giving away

    - keyword
    - available exact match URL
    - SEO competition
    - traffic
    - AdWords cpc
    - Level of competitors on AdWords
    - Estimate of difficulty to rank, based on first page of the SERP

It's pretty straightforward...as of right now, all are available except for legmakeup.org.

All of the keywords I post there will easily rank on the first page in 20-40 days with a high degree of probability...we use the same research for our own sites.
