Hi,

Some of you may have seen my other thread, "KEYWORD RESEARCH"

Well now I finally got Market Samurai working and I searched some keywords ..... now for the question.

How is this helping me determine how hard it will be to rank on page 1 for these keywords??

How do I know? What should I look at? Etc.

(this is mainly for people that use Market Samurai)

You will get 100 different answers depending on who you talk to, but it is always a combination of many factors:

    1) avg pagerank of top 10 should be low (lower than 2 maybe)
    2) are they just the tld, or a deep page? the more tlds, the tougher
    3) are the 4 blocks to the right all Yes? if not, then they might not be trying to optimize that keyword
    4) Can you get more blp's than the sites listed?
    5) are all the domains aged like 10 years?

Every keyword is different. there is no magic bullet numbers. In theory, the more red on the page, the harder it will be.

I don't know what tlds are I don't know what blp's are (backlinks?), I don't know which blocks you're talking about and last but not least, I have no idea
how to check all of these things.

Lol sorry man, you lost me at tlds.

I'm COMPLETELY new to all of this SEO and having my own website thing. Thanks for attempting to explain it though, I appreciate that.

Trying to learn SEO from a forum is counterproductive.

Get a good book on SEO and read it cover to cover.

Then you'll know just about everything worth knowing; then you can use forums to keep up with the latest trends and tricks.

As for your original question about how it's possible to use the Market Samurai matrix to predict whether you can rank for a keyphrase...

You won't know that until you try. Everyone has different resources available. A guy with a network of sites (and friends' sites) he can use to link to his new page is going to have a far easier time of ranking than you will.

Use Market Samurai to check out the top 10 among your competition. If you think you can outdo them, then go for it. But as a newbie, you don't have an intuitive feel for the relative value of domain age, or pagerank, or any of the other on-page and off-page variable that Google uses to rank websites. So, think of it as a learning experience, because you won't know what you're capable of until you've gone through the process multiple times.

IRT - I'd suggest you spend a little time looking at the videos at the Market Samurai Dojo site. That would be a good way to learn the terms and what they represent.

        Peace
