Hello warrior fellow, sorry for noob question, I want to ask something:
Let's say I have this keyword : ciggs for smoking people
it has 100 searches daily and it has PBR level 30%

1. What is that PBR [Phrase-to-Broad] means ? and how does that 30% affects ?

2. I noticed in gogle kw tools, there are broad, [exact], and "phrase". Could you explain and give some example so we can distinguish them ?

Thanks
#pbr

I don't remember for sure but this is something that they explain pretty extensively in Market Samurai. Is that something you have?

That's the first thing I thought of. First beer I ever drank. Tasted so bad I never had a PBR again. Left me wondering how anyone could drink beer at all. A few years ago, somebody told me this beer won some sort of prominent taste competition but I found that difficult to believe.

Well I post it in the IM forum, so the PBR must have related to IM.

Here is a definition from market samurai website

It's the ratio between the traffic for the keyword in phrase match
compared to broad match, and a high score in this column means the
word order listed is likely to be correct (i.e. this word order is
        used frequently).

PBR (phrase to broad ratio) means the ratio of exact searches for the keyword phrase to all searches containing the words. In Market Samurai it is expressed as a percentage. A low PBR (MS suggests under 15%) can mean that either the words are in the wrong order or there is a word missing. In my experience, it can also mean that there are a lot of searches containing the phrase plus one of many other words. As an example, "florida beach rentals" may appear to be a high traffic, relatively low competition keyword, but have a PBR of a few %. Looking at permutations (combinations "florida beach rentals" in all nine different possible orders) reveals no other sequence of the words having a significantly higher PBR, and most are lower. Generating new keywords having an additional word in addition to "florida beach rentals" yields results with higher PBR's, which will be in the form of "<name of beach or city> florida beach rentals", most of which will also have a lot more competition. MS has a good video on PBR on their Dojo site.

Let me explain in in simple terms:

If Market Samurai comes up with a 2 words phrase like "make money", and shows you a PBR of 67%, this means that one third of the FULL phrase is missing.

In other words, the 67% PBR mean that the people are rather looking for "make money ONLINE" or "make money QUICK" or "make money [keyword]"
(since it contains the phrase "make money")...and the PBR value shows how close that phrase is you see in Market Samurai compared to the REAL results.

Actually, i think pbr is pretty important.

The less the PBR, the less "exact" the result is. If you get a keyword which only has 33% PBR, you know that 2/3 of the actual keyword people are looking for is missing.

This can often be VERY misleading if you dont understand it!

"acne treatment" could be 67%. Indication that people are NOT simply looking for "acne treatment" but rather for "natural acne treatment" or "best acne treatment" etc..etc...low PBR means you should do more keyword research to get the exact phrase to find out what people are really looking for.
