Had a page one ranking for a blog home page. It was nowhere to be found after the recent G update.

Blog consisted of 50% original articles & 50% articles syndicated from one particular source.

I removed the syndicated articles about a week ago and I am back on page one.

Google hates copied content, seems they are making that loud and clear.

It's always better to come up with something original so that Google loves you! That's what happened to you

Interesting, if that indeed is the case it will be interesting to see how this impacts article marketing (and syndication).

Couple of my sites got beat down, but are back up today with no change to the content. Only one of them has some Amazon affiliate content. All back where they started or better...

If google is targeting sites that syndicate content then the effect will be disastrous on marketers who depend on article syndication as a sole traffic generating strategy. I cannot see any webmaster chosing to republish an article on their own sites if they going to receive some sort of penalty.
