Hi Guys . i am alittle confused about backlinks to blogs. I was taught to find blogs in my niche and put a useful comment with name, email and website and to then insert html in the comment with an anchor text

However every one i have done is a no follow link inluding the ones i find on my supposedly no follow software that is meant to find the good ones.

So is the only backlink we get the one where my name is my website?? and if so has that any value or is that a no follow as well??

I beleive all wordpress blogs default to no follow attributes in which case why are we bothering??

Please enlighten me

Sounds like you are doing blog commeting for SEO. When doing that, what ever keyword you are trying to rank number one for, should be the one with the anchor text.

Like weight loss(www.weightloss org) follow up

ask the makers of spamming software or the so called "SEOs" which sell "blog commenting" services..i am sure they will make up something

Indeed, 99% of all WP blogs are nofollow. In addition, you will have a VERY HARD time getting through akismet spam filter for some niches. (forget weight loss, for example)

Don't believe the hype. NoFollow links still count. There are many factors that determine the weight a backlink will carry including:

    dofollow/nofollow
    relevance of site
    anchor text
    outbound links on site
    etc.

Sure its better to have a dofollow but that doesnt mean nofollow are worthless. If you really want to find dofollow blogs then use:

    u comment i follow

In your google query as it will return blogs using the most popular WP dofollow plugin.

When you comment on blogs that are dofollow try to make your name the keyword phrase.

"NoFollow" only applies to certain search engines, so don't worry about it too much - just keep building backlinks and you will be fine. Also use Yahoo Site Explorer to check your backlinks.. you may find you have more working backlinks than you thought.

Uh....um.....like the only ones that matter?

Concentrate on links that will get you targeted traffic via those links,
nofollow or not. A link on some useless blog will be quite useless,
nofollow or not. And that's probably 99.99999% of blogs.

I always used to avoid blog commenting as an SEO strat for this exact reason, but decided to give it a shot again this year. The results have been very good, regardless of nofollow/dofollow.

My advice - target authority blogs in your niche, and opt for a quality above quanitity approach.
