Best Traffic Resources?

Hi, I want to ask a very important question that is constantly on the end of every internet marketers tongue?

Were and how do I get traffic to my web site?

I'm sure you yourself have asked that question many times before, knowing that this is now all you need to start making some money online, the icing on the cake?

Many people in the past talked about Google Adword but now that does not work well anymore unless you have tons of money to throw away.

This is my question!

I want to start a chat were everyone can offer some useful insight how they generate traffic whether it's paid for or just pure free organic?

Let me start the ball rolling:

I manage to get traffic not loads but regular flowing organic traffic by just optimizing a landing page correctly at zero cost. The first thing I do is set up email accounts to Google, Yahoo and bing and then add meta tags of root files to the web site. These are some links to get you started after you have set up the email accounts first:

GOOGLE
google.com/addurl
google.co.uk/addurl
google.com/webmasters

YAHOO
siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

BING
bing.com/webmaster

Make sure you add all meta tags or txt files to your domain name root folder for Google, Yahoo and Bing to start receiving organic traffic. This method should always be the first step when adding a web page to the internet no matter what.

This is called SEO (search engine optimization)

I will try and answer any question here.

Regards
Gary

    Cheers!

    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • hi mate, apart from all these methods... paid traffic is what one needs to make a jump start... i am giving a special deal on paid traffic , upto flat 20% off on all types....

    cheers
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • I am confused. I do a LOT of SEO but I have certainly never gone through a process like this!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Submitting on top sites like Google, Yahoo and Bing is not the only way to drive organic traffic. I would suggest adding more relevant content to your website that is unique and useful to the readers. Google will reward you with them. This is what I did and 70% of my traffic came from organic traffic from keywords that i did not think of.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Google adwords with 1 cent bids actually works rather well.

    Also, simply going to your audience instead of advertising is your best traffic building strategy. Are they on a forum? YouTube? Social media? Blogs? Go to them!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Pretty good list of traffic resources. BM this I know it can help a lot on the future.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Good point from ghi572000 If traffic alone, social medias are the best. twitter and fb. but should you want quality traffic. use ppc campaigns or paid display adverts
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I think organic traffic ( SEO optimization ) offer good conversion rather than other source.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • If you're going to go the Social Bookmarking route, focus on StumbleUpon. That is where most of my SB traffic comes from right now.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I think its really important to optimise your content which should be highly relevant to the keyword you are targeting which is the search qeury. There's easy ways to do this to make sure you get a good indexing and plenty of consistent search engine traffic. If you have plenty of incoming links your content will be indexed no problem
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I think its black hat technique, you are just adding meta tags to text files so that google will crawl those and you will get indexed easily, between, the same meta tags are already in your other pages along with some other content, but the text files are going to be blank (only meta tags) i doubt if its work ?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Create interesting articles or free products and give it to people who are in your niche, if they like it, they will give it to other people. There You Have Some viral.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Thanks man, just added to sitexplorer.search.yahoo.com, verification process same as google, by uploading a html.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The best analogy for traffic I've heard is to realize that for any given niche, there will always be a few main hubs for that type of information online.

    What you have to do, is figure out how to weave yourself into those hubs to get in front of interested prospects.

    Find the forums, blogs, sites, etc that are in your niche, and become an active participant in them and as long as you're providing value, people will want to know more.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I suggest:

    1) Offer good content to your visitors
    2) Use Organic SEO for all your pages
    3) Add good content/pages every week (optimized content)

    At this moment, every website I built with organic SEO is on top of search engines. It's an amazing way to optimize your pages.

    • Firstly to WillR, it wasn't meant to confuse anyone it's just a great starting point for any SEO work and believe me it will get your web pages index a lot lot faster, plus I have a lot more great pointers to make later so stick around.

      It's also interesting to hear the rest of your views so far with many talking about paying for traffic, social networking, forums and organic, etc, but its one thing being able to get traffic and another for getting converting traffic in to buyers?

      I think most of us here are searching for the buying traffic and if you go the organic root, I personal think that is where the money is, however if anyone would like to add to differ please do because that is why we are here?

      Lets Summarize
      1. Add meta tags, html or texts files to the root folder of your web pages for the search engines to find you.

      2. Your next step is to make sure you have all these meta tag in you web pages: Were you see the '----' add your text here

      <meta content='----' name='Description'/>
      <meta content='----' name='Keywords'/>
      <meta content='-----' name='author'/>
      This one below will tell the search engine that you want to be found.
      <meta content='index,follow' name='robots'/>

      Very very important, make sure your keywords are in both the description and obviously in the keyword meta tag.

      Another very important step is to make sure your main keywords are in the top part of your text in the html page.

      This is sound SEO procedures for your web page what ever route you take but please continue this thread with your views also how you think or know which is the best way to get traffic?

      If anyone is not sure on any part of these SEO tips for generating traffic please let me know and I will try and answer them all here!

      For Now
      Regards
      Gary

    • Thanks all for your comments, however I am posting actual information to help people improve their web pages for gaining Organic traffic and if you follow my step by step process, I guarantee you will get some good Google ranking for for web pages using your main keywords.

      Okay, lastly I spoke about using meta tags. One thing to do within your meta tags is keep your keywords to three only and make sure you main number one keyword is in your description meta tag and most importantly is in your TITLE.

      In my last post I forgot to mention the TITLE meta tag, it should look like the example shown below. In this example I have chosen to use a key word [INTERNET TRAFFIC] as an illustration, appearing in all the meta tags you should be using:

      <title>How to find Internet Traffic</title>
      <meta content='Internet Traffic, How to Find it Fast' name='Description'/>
      <meta content='Internet Traffic, Traffic, Internet' name='Keywords'/>
      <meta content='Your Web Site Name Here' name='author'/>

      <meta content='index,follow' name='robots'/>

      As we go along I will show you the next steps on how to optimize your web pages to gain traffic online and offline.

      Stay tuned and if anyone else wants to explain their methods for gaining traffic I am sure we would all like to see some example?

      For Now
      Regards

  • SEO has it's limits.

    If the keyword is extremely popular you're going to need to start on a blog platform with your main keyword as your domain name.

    For example: If your main keyword is gardening, then your URL needs to be "freegardeningtips.com"

    If your main keyword is not in the URL for a hot topic then forget it.

    Next, you need to make sure you get the right plugins for your blog:

    1. SEO plugin for WordPress or Platinum SEO

    2. Google XML Sitemaps

    3. SEO Smart Links

    4. Akismet

    5. Block Top Spammers

    6. No Right Click Images Plugin

    7. Text Captcha

    8. Search & Replace

    With new FTC Regulations cracking down on internet marketing, I would also advise:

    8. WP Policies

    9. Terms & Conditions

    Now to direct real traffic to your site you may need to write a series of articles on your niche topic with active links pointing back to your site. You can also use press releases or even convert articles into short ebooks and give them away for free on scribd.com

    You can also upload YouTube videos and even leave video responses on high traffic videos. Just go to youtube and type in "top popular videos"

    The numbers are staggering:

    Justin Bieber - Baby ft. Ludacris; 684,597,595 views

    Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor ft. Pitbull; 463,245,100 views

    Lady Gaga - Bad Romance; 438,181,560 views

    I think you get the idea. Leaving comments and video responds can divert traffic to your own channel and you can get some luv that way.

    If you are into CPV, you can hop on over to alexa.com/topsites and download their csv file and find the top visited sites in your niche. This is a free download and you can use excel to filter down to what you need.

    Quantcast.com tells me that "finegardening.com" and "gardeningknowhow.com" would be great place to pop CPV offers related to gardening with over 153K+ visits per month, you would have to watch your budget very closely.

    If you still believe in using Google Adwords, you can place email ads directly inside people's gmail inbox likeso:

    Display Network --->managed placements --> mail.google.com::inbox

    Unfortunately, google takes at least 24hrs to report details, so you need to keep a close watch on your campaigns.

    Those are just a few ideas to get you started and really just skim the surface of what's really out there.

    • The amount of SEO work is entirely dependent on what keyword you are going for. I have ranked in 1st place with only a blog and the main keyword in the URL. If there is heavy competition, you're going to need lot's of good quality content and backlinks. You don't always need backlinks for every site that you put up... only when you are not on page one and you've got stiff competition. I would take a lot of good quality articles submitted to ezinarticles.com "any day" over a backlinks package like those offered daily in the forums.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Right! As I said before... There's A limit to what you can do with SEO and you really need to call out the big dogs with article marketing and backlink packages to rank for high traffic keywords.

    Your facebook application trick sounds very interesting and I'd like to hear more about that in future posts.

    • If your using black hat methods and your getting results that's fine, but the way things are moving forward in IM you have to be 150% transparent nowadays otherwise I think in the long term these methods with go against you, so I would recommend trying to stay with using white hat methods as be safe?

      Thanks your you views, however you might like to abbreviate so the readers here know more about your methods?

  • I am very pleased to read the informative and interesting discussions above. The topic is also very interesting. I would also like to share best traffic resource as many of them are suggested above but social media marketing is very useful and reliable source for traffic gaining, it is also quickest and organic way of traffic gaining. You can do bookmarking of your website for gaining and tons of instant organic traffic.

  • Thanks.. your question will help me a lot.

    • depends how you do it really.
      SEO and paid methods are just means of increasing your exposure.
      How you convert is your website, your sales model, your sales funnel, your quality of service or product. And how you market it, how you promote it.

      SEO and Media buys itself doesnt mean anything if you cant convert traffic. They are just means to get you traffic. =)

      There is a gap between traffic and conversions, many people think there is an auto link. but it does help alot if you have lots of traffic though. =)

      yes paid traffic gives you an instant boost for the time being.
      but overall in the long run you may want to have SEO tied in.
      =)
