I'm just getting into SEO and I'd love to have someone where I can pm on a daily basis if possible to ask a few 'simple' roadblocks that I may run into in the process of linkbuilding or any other type of SEO.

If you feel like helping out please pm me or comment here.

Thanks so much,

Jeremy

You will find much more information here on the forum than any one of us could provide you! Search around, start learning, and start putting things to action.

I have been in action and I've actually completed 3 mini websites already.

      But I have questions like..

      1. Is it smart to ping your website after every post
      2. What is the best dependable way to backlink

What I am looking for is quick personal help when I run into a problem..

I'm still in school so it makes it hard to find time to get into this and that's why I try not to waste as much time as possible..

Well no one can do the work for you, people can answer your questions but that doesn't mean it will be right. You can have 100 of the top experts in SEO on here, and the answers to questions will be different.

In my opinion, no, it is not smart to ping your website, it would be smarter to add new social bookmarks to your site, or additional back links then ping the back links.

Best and most dependable backlink? Well maybe articles, press releases, or web 2.0 properties.

How exactly do you ping backlinks? I've never even heard of that.

    1. Pinging gets your backlinks spidered quicker.

The plus side is, you see results quicker.

The bad side is, since Google will be seeing them all at once, you are much more likely to trip over the line into 'AH SPAMMER KILL HIIIIIMMM' territory. If you let them get discovered naturally, Google will process them gradually. In the long run, you can get away with more backlinks.

I never bother. The traffic gained from staying #1 for years is much greater than the money made in the extra 2-3 weeks your up at the start.

Then again, certain niches are only viable for short periods of times. If that's yours, Ping my friend. Ping away.

    2. You've basically just asked 'how do I do 8/9ths of SEO' right there. There's no 'reliable' way to link build, it depends on the individual project, the competitors, the category. Link building for a blog, for example, would be very different proposition than link building for a solicitors brochure website.

    A few tricks;

    - Link baiting. Give something away for free (Not even an email capture - that's still asking for an 'investment'). Then advertise it, on social mediums like this. The more valuable the bait, the better. For example, I know a graphic designer who stuck a load of photoshop brushes she made onto her site, then let everybody running a graphic design blog know. Boom! Legitimate, whitehat backlinks from the related authority sites that blackhatters wish they could get their hands on.

-Directories. Not the 'JOHNS SEO FRIENDLY DIRECTORIES' of the world, but Goog gives a lot of authority to things like Dmoz, Hotfrog, touch local etc. To research the best one's, perform a local search on Google places, and see where Google are getting the review information from.

    - Look at your competitors backlinks, using one of the many SEO toolbars. Then steal them.

    - Ask Bloggers to let you guestpost.

    - If you are going to buy links, make sure they are diverse types of sites (Don't go just building 10,000 blog comments.) And don't do it until you've already tried the above. You'll have a greater 'authority' and can push your luck much further. I think Google just assumes someone's Google Bowling rather than your spamming.

Don't buy 500,000 backlinks to a new domain, then ping them all at once.
