Does blog commenting on pages that are PR4 but entirely irrelevant to your website improve your search rankings?
I can get hold of a list of 20 or so blogs that are on page PR4-PR5, I want to know if the backlinks will be worth all the effort if they're not related to my website?
#backlinks #high #impact #irrelevant

As i know based on Google web master manual, this way isn't recommended. It's better have one relevant back link than many back link with irrelevant content. As you know currently google apply new algorithm that it will slap any sites that offer rubbish content or spam. If you want google treat you as good friend you should follow it's rule. Bear in mind focus in quality rather than quantity!

I second to this. I am doing a lot of blog commenting and there's even one experiment I made wherein I only used blog commenting from different niches and my site still ranked well. So if you have a chance to get a link from a high PR site, even if it is not relevant to your site's theme, then grab it! In a highly contested niche, every little factor counts.

Hmm I think these you can use these pages to link to some less important ones on your site coz according to my experience, a PR4 page will lead a none PR one rises to 0.1.2 or so, but PR itself can not bring you any direct traffic, however, usually we consider that the more links into your site, the better, the higher PR , the better, and of course the relevant content is of more importance than the irrelevant ones.

My suggestions is to use those resources to promote those less important pages if you think the links you can get are only possible to work for SEO and you may have better linking resources beside the ones you mentioned.

When it comes to link building, relevance is irrelevant. You can build links from sites in a niche other than yours all day long and these links WILL help you.

There are a number of people that have conducted case studies and achieved higher rankings with links from sites that have nothing at all in common with their sites.

If you want to look for sites that are in the same niche as yours and try to get links from them that's great but I think it's a huge waste of time. I will take a link from any site that will give me one.

Still it is consider backlink but less effective since it is not quality, remember one relevant backlink is better than 5 high PR irrelevant backlinks.

Do you have any proof of that because I've seen a number of case studies that prove otherwise. I have a number of sites that have some good rankings and guess how many relevant backlinks they have..... ZERO!

According to me, site ranking is depend on backlink. If you have number of backlink then you found your site on top. Relevancy and irrelevance is second think.
