Why'd my Position Drop?

I'm currently using the Google Sniper 2 technique and I setup the site like he describes with all of the WordPress SEO-related plug-ins. After the first day I was on top of the 7th page. I know this is terrible, but it gave me hope that I can push my way up there.

After a few days my ranking dropped into nothing-ness.

The keyword is "weaning puppies" and the domain is the keyword put together plus a .org (the forum isn't letting me post links yet).

I'm not so concerned with success here as I am with understanding why this happened. I want to further my knowledge of how PageRanks work and how Google decides where to position your listing.

What made Google change its mind about my position?

It's not unusual to be ranked one day and then gone the next.

I have sites that were ranked high in Google for months on end, and then one day they were off the radar.

In looking at your site, it looks like adding more content could help bring you back into Google's favor. Try writing a few more unique articles on the subject and try backlinking to increase traffic.

Build a few hand picked high PR backlinks with keyword anchor-text, I bet your site will bounce back.

  Since what you had was fresh content, you were placed in the search engines. Since it is a new site, I wouldn't really worry about this. Build some quality links and you will be just fine!

hmm, it's terrible. They sometimes acts like, you know, crazy - that does not follow any explanation. I hope you will recover soon, try to make a little change in your content regularly and carry on you web promoting works.

make sure you have a lot of content on your pages - G's algorithm just rolled out and their sinking sites that have shallow content...

  Four of my own sites have thousands of pages with less than 10 words per page.
