How well do exact match .co domains rank? Just interested in some warrior's information on how well .co domains worked for them considering I found a few .co exact matches for keywords that contain anywhere from 30k to 450k searches a month! Thinking if it is worth trying to go for those search terms or not
#domains #exact #match #rank

Absolutely... They rank just as well as .com .net .org .info and other domain extensions. Search engines don't discriminate against your domain extensions, only people do.

Thanks for answering appreciate the help! Also have a second question if anyone can answer it, I know it is better to use the exact search in google adwords keyword tool but if you use the broad category and rank #1 for that keyword shouldn't you essentially get a good percentage of all those searches? While they are not exact should you still receive a high percentage considering you rank for the "original keyword" so to say?

you'll probably get some long tails yes, but it's just better to search exact to have a more accurate idea of how many searches you can get.

I've been testing .co and so far they seem to work ok, like .info.. I don't see a massive EMD boost but they do rank as well as the other ones.

.CO can be considered a gTLD like .com in Google's eyes since they enabled geotargeting for it.

So between a .com and a .co what would you choose, if the domain would be free for the keywords researched by you. And Why?

I can assure you that if someone searched for the right domain for their project, they would find the .com taken in 99% of cases, only poor keywords would be available. Anyway, if I found an available domain (for example a made-up word) in .com and .CO, to be honest I'd secure both. The reason being that if that domain name were really important to me, I wouldn't want anyone else to have the same keyword in a potentially huge extension, which someday I may need to buy from the current owner for big bucks.
