Keyword research stats, how much is enough?

Hello all,
I'm currently using MarketSamurai to research keywords for a small niche website. What would you say is enough SEOT / ADCPC / SEOV / Searches per day to make my first website.
Obviously I don't want to go into something with too much competition, hell I don't even care if I only make a few dollars a month starting out (through Ad sense and maybe one or two related affiliate products) it's mainly about the learning and implementing it on the website. However, I don't want to start trying to tap a dry well.
Any advice?
