Keyword Not In Url

am I doing something wrong.

I have made a number of niche sites (wordpress) targeting one keyword. I have purchased domains that are the keyword exactly. Now I optimized it for that one kw.

But when I run a rank check, it tells me my Keyword Not In Url.

However, when I run a rank check it is for the keyword I am optimized for and the Keyword for my domain.

Is there something I should do to ensure the search engines recognize my keyword in my url?

  • Could you give an example of one of your domains that would help a lot
  • Have your sites been indexed? Doing a google search for site:yoursite.com should tell you.

Also I *think* Rank Checker only checks the first 1000 ranking sites, so if you are lower than that, you wouldn't show up there.

P.S. - Having your keyword in the URL is only one of the many factors that go into helping your site to rank.
  • A great example is my site for bankrepossessedhouses.net
the kw I am optimized for is bank repossessed houses, but when I run a check, and the figures come up where it says not in url, when it is?

    • Just a KW alone in the URL will not bring you at the top. Try to get some quality links. Do some competitor analysis.

KW's in the URL is an additional advantage. That's it. It's hard to beat some authority/authority linking sites even-though we have a KW in the URL.
  • According to your example you do have the KW in the URL which is a good start. Is it Market Samurai giving you incorrect information or something else? I know MS has had major issues the past month.
  • Can also check out my website ecommerce-web-developers dot com, you need to use the same keyword for optimizing too, It is not just adding keyword in the url and expecting ranking for it, You need to do lot more to get it well ranked in major search engine.
  • Sounds like you need a LOT more backlinks.
  • yeah creat anchor backlink, maybe can help you to SERP!
  • HI, things would run better and in your favor of web business if you have a domain name in your domain name it helps you to get traffic for your business through keyword search.
  • my issue is not with ranking, I just made the blog and it started at 43 for that kw, and I am now building the links, thought thanks for the advice.

My issue is that I have the keyword i am optimized for in the url and when I run a rank checker it says "keyword in url" NO and I am wondering if there something I should do to ensure it is picked up as in my url by google and the other directories

    • Just because you have what you think is your keyword in the domain/url
      does not meant squat.

You may or may not be optimized for it.

Seriously, what is the warriorforum.com optimized for?
      Kayak.com? Monster.com? Amazon.com? Zillow.com?
      Icanhascheezburger.com?

Nobody knows what you have done with the site.

  • It is not enough to buy domain that already have your targeted keyword. It is only give you extra benefit means help you to get high rank fast. But you should focus your quality link building. If you ll place your targeted keywords as your anchor text then you ll get your keyword in top of SE.
  • I appreciate your advice and your recommendations, but the reason I posted this was to see if there was something to do in my wp settings to ensure that the keyword gets noticed by the search engines as being in my url.

When I search for my rank for my keyword, all other parameters are noticed and i am ranking well for the keywords, but the one thing that seems come up is that Keyword not in url.

I understand that I need to do more than buy the exact domain to get high ranks, I was just wondering if there was a settings feature with wp that enables the kw in url to get recognized?

  • If your domain in an exact match domain to the keyword then your keyword is in the URL, and the problem is with whatever software / website you are using to analyze your site. I wouldn't dwell on it.

Thanks for the reassurance, it is the answer I was looking for, as my sites are ranking well for the one kw I want to rank for, just though i missed a step

  • Has to be other factors such as backlinks , onsite seo and so on!
  • What are you using to check this?
  • Are you sure you're using the exact keywords? Sometimes even if you keyword has an 's' and you leave it out, it won't pick it up as the same word and then identify that you don't have it in the URL.
  • Have you done offpage for your keyword which is in URL??
  • Definitely sounds like you need more backlinks!
  • First of all start some SEO campaign. and after several weeks you will surely get some rank.. and using keyword as a title of your page will give you more benefits. Thanks
  • Obviously you should run some seo work for your site.
However your title must contain the desired keyword.
