My site got indexed today, but when I searched for my website all that showed was:

Mydomain.com

There was absolutely no description or nothing, and this is hurting my rankings. When it got indexed it was on the top of page 2 and now its already at page 7.

I don't know why the description won't show underneath my website title..

Has this ever happened to anyone? How do you fix this?

Another problem,

Im ranking for another site and on page 3 one of my posts is ranked. Example : mywebsite.com/this-is-a-post. Wouldn't my website rank before a post i've made on it?

My website without the post isn't ranked anywhere, yet my website with a post tag is ranked on page 3.

I have a feeling some of your code might be a little off. If interested, PM me and I'll take a look at it.

I'm not sure what you're saying about a post of your site ranking?

Did you do a site:www.mydomain.com? That is the best way to see how many pages from your site are indexed.

There was absolutely no description or nothing, and this is hurting my rankings.

Did you put in a meta description tag between the <head></head> tags on all the pages on your site? Go to the home page of your site or any page on your site and click View>Source. You should see the description meta tag between the <head></head> tags in the source code.

When it got indexed it was on the top of page 2 and now its already at page 7.

Have you put up a robots.txt file? If so, have you mistakenly disallowed some directory on your site? Try putting into the browser the URL
    www.mydomain.com/robots.txt

If it is a WP site, then maybe there is a problem with the way you are using a plugin. If you are using All in One SEO for example, you will find beneath each post the Title, Description and Keywords text boxes which you must fill.

I am sorry, you have not given much info about your site and I do not know your level. Hence all these suggestions.

Assuming this is a different site, maybe your post is more relevant to the search phrase you typed in than the home page or any other page on your site.

My website without the post isn't ranked anywhere, yet my website with a post tag is ranked on page 3.

If the tag you have put in the post matches the keyword searched for, there is a possibility of it getting ranked with the tag being part of the URL as in www.mywebsite.com/tag

    Hope this helps
