Wasted Months with Adwords

I set up an Adwords account to promote my e-commerce website several months ago. I got zero impressions. So I changed this and that, trying to figure out what the problem was.

No matter how I changed the campaign settings, bids, etc., I still got zero impressions. I went back to this every month, spending more and more time on it, and could not for the life of me figure out why Adwords wasn't interested in my advertising dollars.

I contacted Adwords support today and asked. This resulted in an email from them informing me that my account was under review and that I would be notified of the results within three days.

This raised some questions for me, which I asked in my reply. Could my account have really been under review for months and months? Were they waiting for me to become distraught enough to contact them before initiating a review? Why was I never told that there was a problem with my account and that it wasn't actually active this whole time?

I also reported honestly, but politely, that this approach has cost me a significant amount of time and frustration.

I very quickly (within a couple of hours) received another email informing me that my account has been suspended for policy violations. Not only does it not say what the exact violations are, it doesn't even tell me what category the violations are in (advertising/landing page and site policies/malware). I also never received a warning of any kind as the Adwords help pages indicate I should have received.

I'm not aware of any part of the Terms & Conditions which could have been violated by my site or ads. If violations did exist, I would have been happy to address them if I had received the warning which the Adwords help pages indicate I should have received.

The email went so far as to say that no more information would be provided on this subject "for privacy reasons." I'm honestly dumbstruck. Hopefully some of the pros here can help me wrap my head around what just happened.

So basically, you had a typical Adwords experience...sorry, there is just not much more to say. You and everybody else is having a similar experience. Many are diversifying away from Adwords.

There have to be tons and tons of people who are doing fine with Adwords. None of this makes sense at all. A campaign appearing to be active for months when the account is really under review, while I'm running around like an idiot trying to figure out why my ads aren't getting any impressions? An account suspended with no specific violations cited and no warning email?

The time I've spent on this easily adds up to $1,000 or more that would otherwise be sitting in my bank account right now. This just isn't right.
