Is Allowing "Commenting" on my Blog Really Useful?

Hello Warriors,

I've been told in the past that allowing comments from "Relevant"
sites is a good thing?

Well I was just doing some reading about commenting from others
who were discussing the matter...it seemed they all said "they are of no value" ?

except a couple.......................

other than causing me to have a "well rounded" blog,
what real value can I get out of a comment by another site
who has a higher rank and relevant content to my site?

(this question is only about others commenting on my blog)
(I won't be commenting on other blogs at the moment)

your feedback very much appreciated
my blogs are WP

Dano~

    hi,
blog comments on your site do nothing much actually, except to promote activity and have people come back to check if they have replies to their comments or whatever.

so one way other people commenting on your site is to get 1. the activity 2. the return traffic (which is important)

but you can allow commenting on your site and turn the moderation on for the comments so you can decide which comments to allow or not to allow. if it's relevant...then allow it. if not. deny it and you'll do good.

so in an answer to your title, i'll say it's useful .

    all the best.

Commenting does all good for your site, it adds more and more content to your website. Just take the necessary steps to ensure that no spamming takes place, OBLs to relevant site will surely look normal to google. And what google looks for is NORMAL activities on a website.

      pysch you are very courteous

it sounds like "they are what they are" and when it comes to SEO, they may "add content" but that's about it!

So all in all it sounds "positive" but no real or certainly no SEO effect
      of any gravity

you know, Google like fresh contents and pay more attention to these pages, so comments on the blog written by other people can make your blog pages change and change frequently. I think this is the value of allowing "Commenting" on your Blog.

If you are not allowing your blogs to accept comments, The main problem what you will face in that you always will be needed to back up your blogs because search engine always requires updated and fresh contents in your blog and by backing up time by time you will all lost whatever you have written but if you are allowing comments Google will interpret this as an updation in content.

Comments are still a great tool for measuring engagement. Anytime your post sparks a conversation in the comments section, it means the content is compelling enough to do so - good, bad, or otherwise.

majority of the comments are asking for backlinks. The people behind those comments have the same in common.

Actually it means a lot. The most successful sites are those with user generated content, and that's exactly what comments are for your blog. It helps with SEO and they give a better impression about your blog. I'd definitely encourage comments on my blogs.

Yeah for every few hours I spend moderating spam comments I get a legit comment, it's a waste of time for me to have comments activated on most of my sites, in fact I even spent an hour just this morning turning comments off on a few more Wordpress sites. What I do now on sites where I allow commenting is I make certain commenting guidelines very clear (such as whether or not keywords are allowed in the name field, stuff like that)

My opinion of commenting though, based on the spam I get, is that most commenters are just link builders, unfortunately. To get legit comments and discussion, you need to really get your site in front of the right people for your niche and have content that encourages valid discussion
