New websites - link-building strategies??

Hi all,

been a bit quiet on here recently as i've been busy busy building sites...

In all i've launched 15 new websites, all with unique content/designs etc. and they're indexing great (and ranking well already). I'm already seeing money coming in but nowhere near the full potential.

Building the sites is the easy part....

I've purposely left the back-linking to just a few social network links to help them on their way, plus a couple of ezine articles each.

My question is... now they're a couple of months old i'd like to start a slow link-building campaign for each of them.

i was thinking of using the free blog commenter (Download The Free Blog Commentor) and maybe commenting on 5 sites a day for each site I have (real comments, no spam).

What would be your approach for new sites (0-3 months old) to help them find their feet?

Look forward to any replies

Tim

    Hi Tim,

I'm assuming you have submitted the RSS feed for your sites to some of the online agreggators? If not, I highly recommend doing so.

Yes, blog commenting can bring some excellent link juice, especially if you are commenting on blogs in your own niche(which you of course should be). People will probably tell you to have your chosen targeted keyword in the 'name' field, but I usually just use my first name instead. You'll still get plenty of link juice, and your chances of having the comment deleted will be reduced significantly.

When I'm establishing a new site, I always like to write and submit a press release. Even if you just want to submit to free sites, there are hundreds of them out there. I always make sure to submit to at least PR LOG and I-Newswire. If you are doing paid submissions to bigger press release sites, then the benefits could be even bigger for you in terms of link juice and traffic.

Have you submitted your site to some online directories? This is something else I always do. Recently I've been outsourcing this on Fiverr. Admittedly, I have usually taken the 'quantity over quality' route with my smaller sites though, if you can get hold of a list of quality ones with high PR then that could well bode better than hundreds of lower quality ones.

You could also create some web 2.0 properties that will link to your sites - Squidoo, Hubpages, Weebly, Wetpaint etc.

      Cheers for the reply Liam,

I should mention i've submitted the rss feeds of the sites (based on wordpress) to various aggregators and am finding that the new pages are being indexed within the hour which is pretty impressive

I'm currently sat on SENuke and don't dare touch it on these new sites for risk of blowing them out the water lol.

Directories sound a good idea for some low-quality links to get things going... i'll pop over to fiverr and see what's about

For blog commenting, it depends if the blogs are dofollow or nofollow. But most blogs are Nofollow and unless your comment is highly clever, I will probably mark it as spam!

      So don't do it.

It doesn't matter to me whether they are do follow or no follow - the search engines expect to see a mixture of both, so having a few no follow links is beneficial too. In terms of the comments, I usually have a good read through the content I am commenting on, then leave at least a paragraph with my thoughts/opinion on the content. The more relevant and helpful, the better

For the long run, I'll suggest you continue with article marketing and blog commenting. But if you want some emergency rush of traffic to your sites, I'll suggest you go with Press Releases.
And you'll be doing this using Google News:

    Go to news(dot)google(dot)com

Do a search on your target keyword and make a note of the top few results you see (these results are the sites which syndicate content to Google)

Submit your press releases to these sites only.

However, your press releases have to be very unique. By doing this, Google will be able to pick up your news contents fast.

Follow these simple steps and once your news content is published, Google will notice it and get it listed in Page one for your keywords as quickly as possible, and this means lots of traffic to your site.

The only downside here is that this rush of traffic only lasts for 1 - 2 days before some other news tops yours, so you have to constantly repeat this process.

But you can guarantee some constant quality backlinks to your site which will improve your SERPs.

    Good Luck.

I agree with Steven, link building can be very time consuming and boring at times for me. But if i wanted to outsource my link building, Steven will be one of the few people I'll endorse in this forum. I've not worked with him yet but i hope to do that in the very near future. The testimonies I've heard from people who have purchased his services are simply amazing. Check out his sig. file to see what I'm talking about. I have not met him before and I'm not his affiliate but the guy is the real deal. I know.

I'm more than happy to outsource the backlinking, my concern is 'blasting' hundreds and thousands of links to the new sites...

Does anyone offer and slower, more natural link-building before I can blast the hell out of them lol

From my experience, most people who provide backlink services in this forum are very experienced internet marketers too, and they understand the harmful effects a sudden 'blast' of backlinks to your site can cause, including the dreaded Google Slap. So they provide their services in such a way that the search engines find the backlinks 'naturally', and there are no problems for their clients.
So you don't have to worry about that.

Instead of using free blog commentre manual blog commenting related to your niche helps both in backlinks and in traffic
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3528389].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author Tim_A
One of the reasons I was thinking of using the 'free blog commenter' is that it finds blogs in your chosen niche and allows you to manually comment on the blogs

If anyone wants to put together a link-package for a NEW site please PM me and i's be happy to chat further

Granted, im a newb, but my recomendation would be to do some manual Blog commenting. I know, its more work, but I take alot of pride in what I write (although Im sure if I ever get really going with it, Ill end up having to outsource)

I didn't mention this in my post, but I too do my blog commenting manually. I have never used an automatic software to do this. It takes me maybe half an hour to find 3-5 blogs in my niche, read some of the content and leave a thoughtful/helpful comment Here's how I find them:-

        1. Go to Google Blog Search - Google Blog Search
        2. Click 'advanced Blog search' at the top centre.
        3. Select '100' results at the top right.
        4. Put a word/phrase related to my niche in either the 'with all the words' or 'with the exact phrase' box.
        5. Select 'the last week' in the 'dates' column.
        6. Click 'search blogs'(top right).

I'll usually find plenty of relevant blogs to comment on, but I usually only do 3-5 per session

Tim_A - have you thought of guest blogging or writing unique articles for authoritative sites within your niche? I'm not talking about article marketing in the "spray and pray" sense, but rather, submitting highly targeted articles to sites that you've worked out unique deals with. This has worked well for me in the past.

I good way to build backlinks is using bookmarking sites, this will also bring in a little traffice as well.

You can do this a couple of ways.

I do this two ways using bookmarking wiz software and social monkee.

With social monkee, its free and you can build 25 links a day to one url or you can get a premium account (free if you refer 12 people) and creates 100 links a day to 3 urls.

    Good luck

so as a general rule, are some of these automated programs ok if done in moderation? I used a package some time ago that did a whole bunch of submissions at once (in the thousands) and i had a drop off on Google within a few days.. Kind of hesitant about repeating the same process!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3541418].message }}

Well for such a big amount of sites you definitely need automation tools.

I suggest you take a closer look at Article Marketing Robot - A tool which distributes article to 6k directories.

Furthermore you could buy some backlinking services from member herre. Don't buy those "one gazillion live backlink packages" They're way to dangerous for new sites. Instead you should buy backlink packages from high pr authority sites or even .edu or .gov backlinks!

I am a complete newbie just bypassing my information overload dilemma. Finally I just got to build my first site with all my on page SEO done though not 100% perfect. I am now checking out my off page SEO. Well, I was advised to do a very slow back linking at least for a month before going for more drastic backlinking building. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks all for the posts, this is making an interesting thread which I hope a lot will benefit from.

Just to re-iterate... I'm using the Free Blog Commenter as an easy way to find blogs, that and the technique outlined by Liam above... the comments are 100% manual, and 100% uniquely written as a response to the article.

You can get a good momentum up posting comments i've found, it's just a little frustrating never knowing if they're going to be approved/indexed

Hey Tim. TheFreeBlogCommenter is a great tool for now. When I started out I was strapped for funds and used it, took some time but it worked. Also, I am sure you can do more than 5/day and be safe. Also, as the above posted mentioned, make sure you submit your RSS feeds, and add RSS aggregators to your Wordpress ping list if you are using wordpress.

You should look at outsourcing quite a bit of it as once you get a few up and running it can become a serious headache to do everything manually.

I can personally recommend magic submitter which I think is still running a $4.95 trial for the first month. It's one of the best seo tools out there so give it a whirl. Sick submitter is also v good and $19 per month.

Focus on diversity and quality links and you'll start getting somewhere. Good luck.
