Best Permalink Structure for Blogs?

Hey everyone,
i'm looking into the structure of my blog now and it isn't looking good. The problem that i can't solve is whether i should take away the /category/ before the tittle of the page.

My current structure is
domain name /category/ tittle

eg.

Aeromatic Watches | Cool Quirks Gadgets and Gifts for Men

Would

http://coolquirks.com/aeromatic-watches-191/

be better?

Because i am trying to target "aeromatic watches" as my keywords in the url. I've heard that google takes into consideration the first few alphabets in the url more than the ones at the back. Would this affect my SERP by alot? Thanks

  • I find that it doesn't make much difference, but shorter URL's are better. I don't include the category in my permalinks.
  • This is what I use for word-press: Custom Structure: /%postname%/

What you have done above is perfect with the exception of the 191, unless I am missing something?
  • I use Custom Structure: /%postname%/ well. No category.
