TLD's targeting non US local listings?

Hi guyz,

I would just like to know if anyone has any experience trying to rank a .com/.org/.net domain in a non US location. Does a tld EMD(exact match domain) still hold weight in a non US location...

For instance: if I wanted to rank a site (in the UK) with a certain EMD like small business ideas and my domain name was obviously smallbusinessideas(dot)com instead of smallbusinessideas(dot)co.uk. Will my EMD hold the same weight if I target the UK market and set my WBT(webmaster tools) to a UK location as it would if I was targeting a US location?

If this question doesn't make sense please let me know so I can try and simplfy it?

Thanks!

~Ashley

I've never done an actual comparison, but am doing OK with a .net in the UK SERPS - I even had a spell at no. 1, though I think that was the Google Dance because I am at 20 now, which is more realistic, but I still think I could hit page one given time. But who knows, maybe a co.uk would've got me there with more certainty...

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

      Thanks Markowe

My personal belief is that a country specific domain will do better but I was hoping to get a .com. Nevertheless I can get a .org.uk but that is a 2nd level domain and I hardly ever see .org.uk domains in the UK SERP's but I will give it a shot.
