Hello Warriors and Internet Marketers,

I am very much aware that the number of links you build is a Factor in your site's ranking, this is true, but the biggest factor is the Quality of the links you build, not the Quantity.

Okay, I am assigned to optimize a site and my boss required me to submit one video everyday using traffic geyser and bookmarked the site using automated bookmarking tools. I am also using directory bot. So, I am generating lots of backlinks everyday.

Based from your expertise and experience, am I doing the right thing? Would these strategies be still appear natural to the eyes of the search engines especially google? I am just focusing on the off-page side.

Any information you may provide will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
MagicLouie

You're probably in the wrong forum section, but....
Without knowing your niches or your site, I'll go out on a limb here.

You should also look for blogs that will give you do-follow links for comments, but make sure you leave high value, related comments. You'll get seo benefits, but probably some visitors as well.

Although it is probably down in power thanks to the recent update, do a Squidoo lens with some appropriate links back.

If you deal in physical products, do some well written reviews, then contact the manufacturer's internal press contact or PR firm and let them know about it. In many cases they'll give you link, which if the manufacturer has been around long enough, will probably be viewed as an authority site by the search engines.

I wouldn't rely only on automated link and traffic building methods. You're leaving plenty on the table that way. Not to mention that you're probably not getting nearly as many referral visitors as you could be.

Since he brought up Directory bot, has anyone used this? If the review is not good, what is the best directory bot out there?

Thanks a lot for all your replies and I have understood them completely.

Oh yes, we have a Facebook fan page too and I am required to make an update everyday. Actually, my boss is selling an ebook for this site and it is about face reading that could save your life.

I keep on suggesting to her that we must add fresh contents regularly and she just told me that we will add new contents later. She insisted that we must have consistency on building links. We have a static page for our homepage but I told her that we can include "Additional Articles" either as a new navigation menu or one of the footer items.

If only pure backlinking is done and no fresh contents being added, do you think this site could still rank?

I am still getting the hang of this whole SEO thing.

    Thanks again...

    Sincerely,
    MagicLouie

I do second with this view. Google has changed its algorithm recently and tracked down all duplicate content to dust bin. Now the description and title of each back links should look unique.

Hi Magiclouie, I think it's about balance, you need good quality links but you also need lots of links. If you only have spammy links then it's easy to see that you are spamming, but if you have some good quality genuine links and some spammy links then it's harder to spot that some are spammy.
I am interested to know what sort of results are you getting with Directory Bot? Does it generate decent inbound links?

I would say you are doing some stuff right but SEO is much more than videos and social bookmarkings...You need to apply all the elements into a proper SEO campaign.

I feel that you are doing it in a wrong way, try to use manual methods as much as you can, making lot of back links a day for a new site looks spammy
