Since you are using images, have you used appropriate alt tags for each image on the site? That is as good as anchor link for text.

Also create a stream on sites like flickr and photobucket. They are good authority domains and can help in improving your rankings.

Alt tags on the images (which you should definitely have, by the way) only go so far. Write some descriptive, readable, relevant content and you will probably go up in the rankings.
