Today I saw that my site dropped visitors. So my first thing was that my site is banned. Why?

I have not done anything with my site? My site has not been much changed then when it was indexed, so why, why whyyyy?

What should I do to get it indexed?

    Is it really banned though?

If it is then you need to go here Requesting reconsideration of your site - Webmaster Tools Help AFTER you fix what is wrong.

My guess is your not really banned.

Please share with me as well, I am curious as to why this was potentially banned to take notes on what to avoid.

Also it would help if people who know why shared with people who are still learning(like this guy)

Install webmaster tools and then check out whats your site status. If it is really banned then ask for reconsideration only after making the changes.

      Thanks for all your answers.

My site is in my signature named tvito.

And Aaron. If I can't find my site in google when searching so it must be banned, or?

I had about 10.000 visitors a day and today only 88 visitors.

O god I hope I can get my site back. I never wanted to do something wrong :-(

Your site is an article directory so I'd say it is quite likely you were hit by Google's Content Farmer update.

But wow that is a heck of a hit. From 10k visitors down to 88?! You're talking about a 99% loss of traffic. Seems extreme to me.

        Hi klauzer,

There is a difference between banned and de-indexed. If you fix your website you can probably get re-indexed. Among the things mentioned by other warriors, you also link out to a bad neighborhood, for example:
Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page for blogio.net

You have a lot that needs to be cleaned up, but it will be a good exercise to learn how to build a decent website.

The site is a disaster. That would be like rearranging chairs on the deck
of the Titanic in hopes it helps.

The site is not worth it. Live, learn, move on.

I mentioned the adsense thing. Could be a matter of time before
that gets a little looksy as well.

This is not about article sites. This is NOT an article site. It's
a mish-mash of rehash smash stash junk that would hardly qualify
          as anything close to "content."

If any site could ever be the poster child with how to get a site
          de-indexed, this is the one!

I'd beg to differ on mere semantics. De-index and banned are pretty
much the same thing in this case.

          Live, learn, move on.

            Hi Paul,

There is a difference in the meaning of the word banned. While Google will ban you from their advertising programs and you will not ever get back in unless you can convince them to overturn the original decision to ban you.

Google bans people, not websites. They will de-index a website if it violates guidelines, but all you have to do is fix the website to get it re-indexed. Google has been very clear in making this distinction.

Just a quick note: This is one of the types of sites (with that Article Directory Plugin) that lots of the wordpress posters (like article marketing robot) posts to.

...and this is what happens when the owner of the site sets it to auto-approve all new articles:rolleyes:

The way to check if your site is still indexed by google is to type the following into google:

    site:yoursite.com

And see if anything pops up. Just because you're not showing up under your keywords doesn't mean you have been de-indexed.

Google indexes and de-indexes sites all the time.
They fluctuate. I doubt very seriously if you had
      10,000 visitors a day.

Your site is filled with junk with a capital J.

It's not rocket surgery to figure out why it got the
      boot.

If people would have visited and surfed around, it would
      have been obvious.

Clicked on "post links on google" category and man were
      the results painful.

      Sorry.

Guess you're lucky it's not quite enough for an adsense ban.

Article sites are not bad, but man is that one excruciating to peruse.

Here's another example. Click on 2nd category. "Content and site
structure." Yeah. Right. The results were just $%^$^&&%^@#%&!

I don't doubt his traffic at all. Check out his Alexa chart, the site was flying upward the past few month or two:

        Tvito.com Site Info

But yeah, it's junk and someone at Google finally noticed. Just goes to show that autoblogging does actually work if you can fly under the radar long enough.

You've likely had what Google calls "manual action" taken against your site, since it's completely gone from the index.

Why? I hate to say it since I'm sure you were making some decent money on that site, but it's because your site provides absolutely no value to a Google visitor.

There is no unique content on your site. It's all spun copies of articles, and most of the spinning is pretty poor at that. I'm guessing almost all of your articles come from various paid submission tools like UAW or AMR.

Again, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that site is done as far as Google is concerned and won't be coming back. The fact that you can search for "tvito.com" and not have your site appear is very telling that you've been manually removed by a Google Quality Engineer. You can resubmit your site for consideration, but it's not going to happen without removing 100% of your articles and replacing them with completely original content.

It's VERY likely you'll never see traffic to that site from Google again.

Learn from this experience and move on.

yea, your site is not indexed, maybe that happened because google identified your site as a link farm or content farm, so remove unnecessary things and apply again for the reconsideration.
links from bad neighborhood doesn't make sites de-indexed, if so, many people will do this for their competitors.

That's not why you are "banned" (you're not banned, just penalized).

You got that way because you were using a premade script that gave your pages on your site the same footprint as thousands of other websites that use that same script.

My advice (for this site and any other you build): customize what you buy.

That script came with a theme/template for the pages. Change those first. Optimize the HTML code and remove any unneeded tags. That will already put you in reconsideration once Google recrawls your site because it thinks you've done stuff and will look different than every other site running the script with the default theme.

Next, change the URL structure and links that the script uses. For instance, the easiest way to figure out if a site is running a particular forum is to look at the URL and see "forum.php" or "forum". Or, look at the links and see "add.php" or "register.php".

Footprints are what get you in trouble. Minimize yours.

        This was good news Rex.
So I will start with changing to a custom theme.
Can you please explain what you mean with URL structure and footprint?

For instance, your theme might have links for a member registration that are like:
          Code:
          hxxp://www.example.com/register.php

          or

          hxxp://www.example.com/register/
          You might change it to:
          Code:
          hxxp://www.example.com/become-member/
You're reducing your footprint because every other site that is using the article directory script probably won't make any effort to change that stuff.

Google goes off patterns. If it looks like a spam site, then chances are it usually is. I'm not saying yours is, but a lot of people found out that it was really easy to make content farms using free article directories. It killed it for every legit person.

          You have to differentiate yourself.

Hi guys as a newbie I recently made the mistake of trying to use Adwords to promote a wordpress pre sale page with an affiliate link to a clickbank ebook on yeast infections. Google suspended my account and then saw that I had a another campaign that was deleted by me because I change my mind. They had me remove links from both sites and I await review to see if my account will be renabled again. I was pissed because they don't tell you much on what is wrong but now realize that I should read up on techniques more before diving in.

Does anyone know of tips and tricks to stay on Googles good side when using Adwords? There is a site called Adwordsminisites.com that is supposed to be good at putting together sites that are Google friendly but they are closed down for now and are asking for $3,000 for newcomers.

I just want to learn how to do things corectly and i am sure first step is to stay away from promoting products that makes claims Google considers bogus.

Ok. I have now cleaned my site totally. I asked Google for reconsideration and still they won't approve my site. Why? I only had 12 post and they where 90% original but google said NO.

What more do I think about? Am I missing something?

I am mad now. Google disapproved my site for the second time.

Please someone, is there someone that can see why they disapproved my site again?
All of the post where not published else where when I published them n my site. I had about 40 post on my site when Google review my site.
But comeone 40 post that can make my site disapproved? There must be some other issue that. They told me only that they disapproved it because of the quality.

You can find my site in my signature. The last one with articles.

The articles on your site look like forty word twitter tweets, not real articles. Write twenty or thirty real, 700 or 800 word articles, get at least two or three articles into each category, then ask for a reconsideration.

You are dealing with real live people at Google at this point, and they are going to read your site each time you submit it for reconsideration. What are they looking for? They are looking for the same quality of article you would find in a magazine at the newsstand.

I checked all three of your sites and they are indexed. As far as the traffic goes.. I would not worry about it. My site took a hit as well but it's still getting traffic and as long as I keep adding quality content, it will be back to where it was in no time. I'm also painstakingly going through each article and if I find one that's are all over the web (in other words duplicates) then I delete it but don't delete to many at once or that will make it worse. Delete a few then add a few.. that's what I doing and traffic is coming back.

    Hope that helps

Please someone. For third time my site was not accepted by google. I have even changed my theme to a unique one and added Privacy Policy. I have 98 article published and they where all unique when I accepted them They are in right categories.
    SO what is wrong?

Why don't google point me to the right place where they don't like my site. I only get from them that the site is not following Google's quality guidelines.

But where? Please, should I leave this site and go with a new one?

My site is last one in my signature.

Was your site advertised in google? If so it's possible that google changed some rules again, they are known for doing that. You have to stay up and current with google's advertising rules and regulations policy. When they change them, that will knock your site out until you make changes to satisfy their rules. Correct that and your site should get ranked back up again. Hope this helps.

        Hi klauzer,

You still have a lot of low quality articles, some look like real sloppy spun content. i.e. tvito .com/2011/05/of-the-best-diets-that-work-fast-for-girls/

There are still a few questionable OBLs:
        Questionable:
        Found on: twitter.com/klauzer
URL: http://twitter .com/ATLPartyGirls]ATL Party Girls (ATLPartyGirls) on Twitter

You will need to improve it enough to meet the higher standards of a human search quality inspector.

I'm stilling not seeing unique content. Your website doesn't pass with copy scape. Give up!

I randomly selected an Article and find at least 100 other ones that are 90% the same but spun versions. It's time to give up on this project , count your losses and move on.

        Sorry mate.

So I got a message from Google again. The result is that my site will again not be indexed. But WHY?
I have deleted all post. There is nothing that can be duplicated neither bad written post.
I only have a clean, nice design.

So can some one tell me why Google makes this so difficult for me?

      Hi klauzer,

You have no content that adds value or that users would find useful. I don't understand why you would think Google would want to index a bunch of pages that seem to exist for no other purpose than to display advertisements.

I think you may have your priorities backwards. First, build useful content that adds value, build traffic, then monetize with ads.

Also, I would advise staying away from some of the topics that you have in your navigational menu. Google doesn't like to see advertisements on topics like death, or the imminent threat of death from a terminal disease. It's considered bad taste. Stay away from health related issues unless you have some bonafide credentials in that area.

Because your website has been de-indexed, you will be under intense scrutiny during reconsideration. You have a higher standard that you must meet to be approved for re-indexing. They are not going to re-index your website if you are showing the least amount of effort you can get away with to clean up website. Don't just remove offending content, replace it with quality content that is useful and adds value.

There is no such thing "Banned", neither search engines deindex sites without any reason. Yes sites normally loose rankings because of different reasons. you don't need to worry about that. It would be regained after sometime.

He's not getting that site reindexed again so you can stop offering that advice. I had a neighbor get a $4000 autoblog system all deindexed at once... a whole bunch of sites all at once. Just for fun, we tried several things and applied for resubmission... denied every time. We both simply learned from this (I immediately rehosted all of my sites).
    1) Never ever use WebMaster Tools and Analytics if you have any kind of site that's not true, blue 100% value (spun content, auto generated content, etc...). Google used WebMaster Tools to find my buddies sites and every one was deindexed over night. We know this for a fact because he had 2 sites he never added and whadda' ya know... those were the only 2 sites that didn't get deindexed.

    2) SEO Hosting only... Class C Domains. Fly under the radar with all your sites so if 1 ever gets hit, they all don't.

How do you know it's banned? I have sites that are on the first page of google one day and the next are completely dropped out of sight... Few days later they're back up on top again.

Unless you are certain you site has been banned then I wouldn't be worried. And if your site is banned... ask yourself why?

Google don't ban sites (usually) for poor content... You're free to create a crappy site if you want. They probably won't rank it very well as they want the best sites on the top of their serps, but they won't ban you.

They will ban you if you're creating questionable content... ie scraping other people's content.

Just review their guidelines and if your site doesn't break the rules then I doubt you've been banned.

oh he's deindexed (banned) alright.. and not coming back. Just do: site:tvito.com in Google. Zero results means they pulled the plug.

And they will ban any site that they consider MFA.

    Klauzer,

I've beaten my head on a wall trying to get one of my domains indexed, and after 5 reconsideration rejections, with a complete site re-design every time, I have to face the reality that I have to do something radically different to prove to Google that I am not just putting a pretty face forward until they index me and then do the same old thing.

I need to make a major investment in making the site stellar, or I need to give up on it. My choice. I think you are in the same boat.

For now, it sits doing nothing.
