Hi,

My friend is wanting some seo work done on his websites, you can view them throw the links below. What is the best way to approach these kind of sites?
Would article marketing work well? Or would another method work better?
I have only ever tried to do seo work before on a weight loss niche site.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you Rob.

Whenever you are doing something, you should be revising your strategy and look at the patterns for why something worked and why it didn't. Yes, there are some things you have in a niche that aren't in another, but 99% of what goes into ranking one site will apply to what goes into it for another.

    1. Go and choose 10 keywords based on your friend's site for that niche that have at least enough searches per month to be worth your time, and have medium to little competition.
    2. Out of those 10, build the site structure around them, choose good meta information, headers, category names, URL structure, etc.
    3. Write great content.
    4. Research how the top 10 for each of those 10 keywords you chose setup their site. Write down those patterns that seem to help them rank and then make any changes necessary to your site.
    5. Copy the backlinks of all those sites as best you can. Follow their backlink profile and make sure yours is very similar.
    6. Build more backlinks.
    7. Build more backlinks.
    8. Build more backlinks.
    9. Build more backlinks.
    10. And build some more.

I am trying to build as much backlinks as possible at the moment for maybe around 3 word keywords that have lesser competition, write articles based on the keywords and anchor text them with a hyper link to your site. Will help your Google organic ratings and drive traffic.

This sites have been hit hard though by Google's latest Farmer update.

Even if you do produce good quality content, do you think that article marketing is worth bothering with?

You can do all the SEO work in the world, it is useless if your site does not convert. The site does not look like it would convert all that well, depending on how you plan to monetize?

Successful SEO strategies are pretty much the same regardless of the site.
So your question is really, "what are good SEO strategies?" Which is the million dollar question.

Unique and useful content, great on-page SEO and a natural looking backlink profile.

Seek out forums, blogs that allow comments, even set-up "free" blogs that pertain to the keywords you're wanting to rank against. Find these HIGHLY RELEVANT content venues and begin working with the community (if it's a forum) or blog and assisting and offering good responses and useful assistance. And with out "SPAMMING" occasionally ad your backlink or perhaps make it apart of your signature.

Also, if you're running short on highly relevant content hubs or forums - or anysite for that matter that discusses the topics and keywords you're wanting to rank highly for. Create you own content network - sign-up for and begin creating a daily blog (weekly will work too).

Be patient and keep building those backlinks steadily and slowly... Don't attempt to get it listed overnight.

If your main website had a blog system built in - I'd try to focus on writing and adding fresh new content revolving around your keyword's as well and have other relevant content sites link to those posts.

Keep it up and hope you have great success with it.

I would try to get backlinks, also improve the look of the website as it will affect on how well it converts.

Also try to get your website listed in Google places as you are trying to target local UK traffic.

    Hope this helps :-)

Think about the objective of SEO. It comes down to "getting you traffic." No more nore less, really. So, with that definition in mind, "anything" which can get you traffic can be (and often IS) called "SEO".

To differentiate between stuff you can do on your own page - and everything else, you're taling about "on-page" and "off-page" SEO. And here is where the fun begins.

I'm in the process of coding a program which will help people deal with all these different kinds of SEO, and I'm keeping count of how many distinct techniques are there. I've counted about 150 major ones, each with up to 6 variations. For example "article marketing" is one popular "SEO technique" and you can either do it using "free" methodologies or "paid" services or "outsource" the work or find "software" to do it - and then, of course, you have different combinations - plus - you have (critically!) different PLANS or methods of implementation of any or all of these variants in your strategy.

With that in mind, your question is too broad to be answered adequately without a little diatribe like this, lol.

It helps to always remember what the obejctive is: to be found. If you can be easily found, you'll get traffic. So the question is really: "how best to be found."

To answer that you need to rememeber that there are many "venues" through which you might be found. Word of mouth and direct knowledge of your site doesn't count - unless you've invested $1M in offline advertising. So what else is there: well, search engines, forums, special interest groups, social networks, etc.

OK, when you know that, then you know you're lookign for "what are the rules I need to follow if I want to be found on, say, forums?" And, analogically, what are the rules I need to follow if I want to be found on, say, Google.

All the hype notwithstanding, it's still Google, not Facebook, where the vast majority of all the searches are happening. Knowing this, you need to learn Google's rules.

And those rules are actually not all that hard - and it helps to know what they all boil down to: keywords.

By a factor of something like 10:1 as compared to any other technique, keyword selection has GOT TO be the most powerful way to get noticed. If not by everyone (which is NOT really desired), then by the "target" group of web searchers.

I don't mean for this to be self-promotional, but it will come off that way. Do forgive me. Still - I've just launched a little book on this subject and it will help you find keywords on par with the pros (Solid Gold Deep Keyword Research with SEOlater). For real.

Once you have the golden keywords (your #1 Google bait), then you only need to optimize your site in the best possible way to make those keywords count - in Google's canny digital eyes, lol. Again, not to self-promote but only to point you to the best technique for achieving that, check out my little Fiverr gig which will help you achieve this: http://fiverr.com/236726.

    Hope this helps.

Try and create unique content, there are some great services here on the warrior forum. I suggest doing at least which contain at least 600 - 1000 words, with a keyword density of at least 3% no higher than 4%.

Article marketing does work, try to get 10 articles approved with EZA and Go articles. They are still powerful backlinks, Don't use your main keywords for article marketing. Do some research and find some keywords with zero competition and a low amount of searches per month. 10 articles which get searched 50 times a month, will boost your traffic easily and quickly.

Make sure to use H1 tags and metag tags correctly. Getting a sitemap and submitting to google webmaster tools can also help.

    Thanks, Jason.
