What is the best and efficient link building strategy? In your opinion? Thanks!

  • Personally I use tools to do my keyword research and then analyze the comeptitions backlinks. I will then take the highest PR backlinks they have and try to add my link to the same site.

I also use a couple of link building services as well, but it's too early to really tell if these are working, but I am seeing a few results.
  • Here's 2 things to keep in mind:

    1. You shouldn't get more backlinks then visitors....how strange is that?

    2. Backlink your backlinks. Nothing is better than a strong backlink. It doesn't have to be a high pr backlink, just any old backlink can be backlinked to make it stronger.

    • This is a very good suggestion. I think it is very effective and working.

      Thanks
    • I can help you with step 2.
    • I'm a little leery of people asking these general questions on "what's the best way to do this" because all that tends to end up happening are people over using a single method.

You have to remember that everything you do online leaves a footprint. Google is the king of data mining and tests any algorithm change over their database before releasing it to the public.

      So, what happens is this:
      1. I tell you how I like to do a specific instance of something, then you and everyone reading might try it.
      2. Google's crawler notices that there's an odd number of links on this site over many pages written a certain way.
      3. That crawler alerts someone to manually check the findings.
      4. That person then says, "Hmm, this seems unnatural, let's run a query over our database and see if this is found on other sites."

Now what happens is you have a new algorithm change that penalizes your site and everyone else following a set method because people were too lazy or just didn't care to change a concept that was shared.

The most efficient backlinking strategy is to minimize your footprint as much as possible. You can read more on all that by following my past posts. However, here's a quote from one of them.

Anyhoo, enough harping I just keep seeing this same question popping up multiple times a day.

What's your thought process behind that statement?

It just seems like an odd thing to do. Other than word-of-mouth, you couldn't tell your friends about your site, let alone anyone else without linking.

I have a feeling it's just your rule-of-thumb to help you remember not to spam or over do the backlinking, but still :p
    • Thanks mate! I've learned something..
