Adwords for clickbank question

When selling a product from clickbank on adwords what do you put in the display URL? My own domain, the products domain minus my hoplink or my hop link?

I read Google does not allow Redirected URLS to be the destination page so I set the destination page to my hoplink.

I buy a relevant domain. Forward the domain to my hoplink then use my domain in my adwords. Also gives me the option of trying different clickbank offers by simply changing the forwarding hoplink. Not sure if this is the best way to cloak a hoplink but it's what I do.

Thats what i was doing but they suspended one of my ads for non relevent URL. I their TOS it says that you cannot redirect, am i reading this wrong? I posted it below

    Affiliate Policy

We do not allow data entry affiliates to use AdWords advertising, but all other affiliates may participate in the AdWords program. However, we monitor and don't allow the following:

    * Redirect URLs: Ads that contain URLs that automatically redirect to the parent company.

The Display URL MUST be the domain that shows up in the address bar of the browser after any redirects have occurred.

So if you are promoting a CB product and you are putting the CB hoplink in the Destination URL, the Display URL must be the domain where the product is being sold from.
If you are framing the products page (technically not allowed by adwords, but unless someone complains, they don't do anything about it ), the Display URL must be whatever domain the framed page is on.
If you have a pre-sell/review/whatever type page on a site that you control, the Display URL, must be the domain where you have that page.

Is it the domain name only or the domain plus a page name.
You don't need the actual page, just the domain and you can leave out "www" too.

i left out the www and its still one character to long, it is the only page they offer as a merchant. I emailed the merchant to see what they say about it,

Not ideal, but Google has allowed me
to run ads with the "m" missing on .com
when the URL was too long.

Hmm. I've never tried it but I wonder you
could get away with the leaving ".com"
off altogether? Probably not, but I might
try it . . . thinking out loud.

That's the same thing, the hop link is a re-direct, and you are allowed to use re-directs. A lot of people have tracking software that don't belong on the main site, it just redirects the main site.

Not sure if it is in Googles eyes, i had my domain that redirected to the hoplink as the destination and the display URL and they paused my ads because of it.

I have this same problem. I set up a website on my server that has the user click to get to the sales page and they still paused my ad campaign. How do you get around this?

Do you have the display URL and landing page URL set to the same URL?

The display URL and Landing page URL do not need to be exactly the same. However, the domain in your display URL must be the same domain as your landing page URL. Just the domain portion needs to be the same.

Your destination URL does not need to be the the same domain as your display URL, nor does it need to match your landing page. This is what makes "direct linking" easy to do.

When AdWords say they "do not allow data entry affiliates" they mean what folks refer to as "Direct Linking". They want you to have your own website.

Many folks do get away with domain forwarding when they use domain masking typically with an iframe. Technically, you don't need a website, just a domain name, but this is skirting AdWords policy. You will get away with it if nobody checks it too closely. In the competitive world of affiliate marketing you can expect to eventually be reported and you may have ad disapproved.

If you want to be above board with AdWords policy, you should setup a landing page on your own website, known as a "pre-sell page". Often people create a version of pre-sell page known as a squeeze page.

The concept of a squeeze page is that you capture the visitors email before forwarding them on to the offer page. You provide just enough information to entice the visitor to give their email address. Traditionally a squeeze page has no navigation links and provides no useful information until the visitor gives their email address. This type of page typically scores a poor quality score unless you do it just right.

I have the exact same address for the destination URL as I do for the display url nothing is different. I added a video with some text on the landing page as a pre-sale page and hoping it works. Ill post what the results are.
