PR of Homepage

Does Google consider the PR of homepage of the blog if you have the backlink on the inner page of the blog which have no PR.
For Example I have commented on inner page of the blog1 which have homepage PR 6 and on the blog2 which have homepage PR 3. The backlink coming from the blog1 have more worth than blog2 or they carry equal weight.

    • Of course the one with PR6 have more weight. No one actually knows how google treat these type of links, but from my testing with profile backlinks for a number of different sites, it was clear that inner page links (even if pr0) of high authority sites (pr 6-9) gives a greater boost in the rankings.

  • Hearsay and myth. The fact is that there are two conflicting concepts here. Page Rank which is Page Specific and the so called much talked but never proved idea of "Trust Rank" which supposedly extended to the entire site and not just the homepage.

    I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a link on a Page Rank zero page within a Page 5 site is a Page Rank zero I'm afraid.

    You also have to take into account the complicated theory surrounding Page Rank decprecation and leakage etc i.e how many links removed from the Homepage the page that your link is on etc.

    Page Rank deprecates and leaks from page to page by roughly a factor of 15% therefore a link from a Page Rank 10 page where there is only one outbound link will be 8.5. Next Page Rank is also divided by the total number of links (both internal and external) coming from the page so if there are 100 links on a page then the juice will be further deprecated so would be 0.085.

    Repeat this aross every page that the link has to go through to get to your page where your link is and you can see why despite protestations to the contrary these so called High PR liks are not what they say they are.

    Checknout Matt Cutts latest discussions about Page Rank Architecture etc to see where google are going on Page Rank leakage.

    Of course this is all tosh in that Google no longer really....pay attention to Page Rank,. it is now only one of 200 ranking factors in their algorithm and not what it was. Therefore forget about it.

    Page Rank doesn't and never has pays the Bills. Good SERPS does and that is now compiled from 199 other categories etc.

    The real value to getting profile links indexed and supported of course is IP spread but that is another matter.

  • Thats the crazy thing. This is all SEO circa 2009. The last real pronouncement from Matt was about the Panda Update about 3 weeks ago. His comments about Page Rank Architecture and leakage etc were made about a year ago.

    Page Rank is a busted flush anf Google are really downgrading it (in fact have done so already) - it's gone from being top of the pile now to just one of 200 ranking factors etc.

    • Exactly for what it is worth Page Rank is Page specific and anyone who says otherwise is spouting complete tosh...thats why they call it "Page Rank" and not "Domain Rank".

      This is acomplete obfuscation and misdirection from the old purveyors of so called High Page Rank Links..which of course we all knew weren't high Page Rank at all it just sounded better as a marketing tool.

      I'm waiting for certain individuals to enter this debate peddling the old mantra but I'm sorry folks this is 2011 and unless the page your link is on says PR6 or whatever then the link ain't a PR6 link.

      You know the old saying...if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck then perhaps it is a duck. Insert Page Rank here for Duck and if it really is your thing concetrate on what you see in the little green icon on the toolbar above

      In fact if you consider the Page Rank Deprecation and Leakage factors into consideration sometimes a link on a PR2 page can give you more juice than link on a PR6.

      The other real hidden element to all of this is.......and this is the real rub. The so called little green toolbar icon you see on the top of your page is usually at least 6 months out of date and actually Page Rank isn't calculated in reality out of 10 it's worked on a scale of between zero and 1 but it's just that Google chose to portray it as on a scale of 1-10 as so called Toolbar Page Rank. Not actually the same as actual Page Rank.

      I't all a crock of Horse manure anyway and thats why folks should concentrate on much more meaningful metrics.

  • It considers both, but the homepage's PR is more important.
