Google doesn't like you to have lots of AdSense sites? Why?

I currently have 5 blogs with AdSense on them. One is a (would-be) authority site that I am getting tired of trying to constantly update. The others are set-and-forget micro blogs that I like much better (both the concept and the work involved).

To have hopes of making a good income with AdSense, I need to make more micro blogs. I am thinking of aiming for at least 100, maybe more, built over the course of a few months. I write all my own content and it's pretty good, so these are not slap-'em-up crap sites (in my unbiased opinon ).

I am concerned with the discussions I come across where people say Google will disable your AdSense account if you have too many sites. Is this so, and if so, why? Seems to me that whether you have one site or 500 shouldn't matter if each site meets all of Google's TOS and quality guidelines.

Related to this, I have seen references to people having one more than one AdSense account. How is this possible? You could sign up with different email addresses or even physical addresses, phone numbers, etc., but what about that tax number thing? (Also, I am not enough of a techie to understand proxies and how to use them, if that matters in getting more than one AdSense account.)

Finally, isn't it a Really Bad Thing in Google's eyes for one individual to sign up for multiple accounts? Wouldn't doing that pose a bigger risk of being banned than having lots of sites under one account?

If your sites are on the up and up, you can have a million sites.

Google does not cancel your account for no good reason. Having
loads of adsense sites by itself will not get your account deleted.

But it does seem like all you want to do is slap some sites together
and forget them. The Ron Popeil approach. Set it and forget it.
Even though you claim you will not, followed by the micro-mentality.

Google will cancel you if you have more than one account. Some
people get away with it. Some don't.

No offense, but your post sounds like you are getting ready to
shmooze google, then cover your @$$ by having more than one
    adsense account.

Then you did not read my post closely, or I failed to communicate. I said I read that some people claim to have more than one AdSense account, and I said that sounded riskier than having lots of sites (if indeed having lots of sites is a problem).

I don't think the number of sites you have matters too much. What matters is the amount of money they are making. If you are making a decent sum, say for example, $200 a day then Google will pay your site(s) a visit.

Since the advertisers are paying a lot of $, they would like to check to see what they are getting for the money. I suppose, it is part of the their quality control process. And, if for any reason, they feel the sites are not upto scratch, normally the sites become de-indexed or ranked lower in the SERPs. It seems, this is the action they take most of the time so it is not bad as losing your Adsense account.

They just do not have the manpower to check every site and only the bigger earners get attention. I guess this is a loophole that is available at the moment.

This makes sense. I'm just curious as to why so many people seem to think that the mere fact of having lots of sites will get you banned, as if having 5 or 10 sites (regardless of content or quality) is OK but having 50 or 100 (regardless of content or quality) is not.

You hear all the time of people with many thin (say 10 pages) sites running into problems and rarely about people with a smaller number but bigger sites. Perhaps with bigger sites people make more of an effort but if the design is not upto scratch with bigger sites, you can I reckon still run into trouble.

Personally regardles of big or small, I would much prefer to stay under the radar. It would be interesting to find out how people go about getting more then one account and keeping out of trouble.

It is not a company policy but an individual policy. Right now, it appears Google has hired more manpower to check websites and rate them. You know you have gotten some kind of manual "adjustment" when you suddenly drop for some keywords that you have been ranking well for a long time.

In the same way, those hired to check Adsense sites may have a bias against people they perceive as being mass MFA producers. So this can result in some kind of vague punishment, but make no mistake, it really does happen.

I can cite many cases where there seemed to be no reason why someone got punished, but still it happened (even to big guys). Either their sites got dropped or they got banned (for "no reason"). Recently, Google appeared to have upped the ante. They definitely love doing this. It is not so easy now to bang out tons of crappy sites and make tons of money from it. That was 2005..... this is 2011.

True, I would focus on making sure your site has more than just a few pages of content.

Because most MFA (made for adsense) sites are poor quality sites.

Google doesn't want people flooding the internet with crap simply to slap adsense ads on it.

You can't tell me that if you have 100 sites that they are all sites that really provide value to the internet.

For each of those 100 sites there are already 100 sites just like them and probably a couple that are far better.

Google is not going to disable your account if you have too many sites with Adsense on them. The problem deals mainly with people creating sites that are called MFA sites (Made For Adsense) Sites. You just need to make sure that you put a lot of unique content on your sites, and you will never run into a problem with Google. Google makes money off your clicks, so they don't care. They just want to make sure that websites hosting their advertisements are focused on quality content. It's not a good idea to have multiple accounts. You don't need multiple accounts anyway.

Thanks. This is what I would have thought. I just didn't get all the people claiming that Google would ban you based on sheer number of sites and nothing else.
