Exact Match Domain Names - What Would You Pay?

What would you pay for an exact match domain name? If all the research and boring junk was done for you?

I realize a few factors would make a difference in price.

But as an example:

A .org exact match, 1900 searches, tech related, lots of products available for sale on Amazon with good reviews etc...

or

A .com/.net exact match 1000+, lots of products on amazon, good reviews.

Or in an informational niche like health, etc...

Just curious...

Personally I wouldn't pay more than I normally do at Namecheap (about $9) as it's still really easy to find good exact match domain names for Amazon products. I'd pay for good exact match domain names for Clickbank products though - they're alot harder to find.

Yea, basically this. 1k searches isn't much, unless if its targeted for conversions in some way. Over 5k I would pay 50-100

Matt curtis said google were looking at ways to lower the seo benefit of domain names.

I still imagine an exact match domain is worth it for profitable keywords ofc though. Even if it was just for the reader and not the search engine.

$10 for either. $20 for the .com if I was feeling generous.

1000 searches isn't much. At best, you will more than likely get 400 of that.

The keyword would have to be a buyer's keyword too.

Research takes about 10 minutes, so it's not worth that much.

These aren't product names, no brand names, just good generic buying keywords related to niches. In my experience they haven't been that easy to find! Also, in my experience a 1200 exact match related to a good product on amazon is worth well over $200 a month with a first position ranking.

You can use Google Keyword to check how much searches the keyword generates. If it is a highly search keyword, then it is worth more, otherwise it is useless.

There's been talk of exact match domain names not being so valuable in the near future, so I'd do some extra research on it if I were you. You might want to sell it quick before Google changes their algorithm again to devalue the exact match domains in the search engine rankings.

For a keyword with around 1,900 exact search/month, I have seen services selling between $15-30 but you really need to include the competition on Google page 1 as well. If it is a really tough keyword, not many people would want to buy it.

Only the domain itself? Depends on exact searches, profitability from Adsense/Amazon/CPA/Leads, whether or not SEO was done, is it ranking, etc.

For your first example, probably $50 for the domain.

It's funny how Matt Cutts says something and people start interpreting it to mean the end of this or the end of that. As if having an exact match domain name is all of a sudden going to be a bad thing... Not going to happen, it doesn't work that way.

Anyways, I have found quite a few and was just interested in what people thought they might be worth, etc... And if there is possibly a market of people looking to hire me to do this for them. I've found a few 10,000+ exact match .net's but I'm not sure how well of a buyers keyword they are, they are very low competition though so it could be interesting.

I guess if Idid want to market this, I'd have to invest in the domain and build a list that you have for sale then advertise...

EMDs are a rare few nowadays.

Often times you'd think you have to rely on special scripts or software to find the desired EMD.

    I'd pay $10 as well.

Yeah I think EMD sites are still very powerful and have an advantage when it comes to SEO. It will be difficult for Google to take that away without having negative effects on their results.

  • Personally, I would rather just add a letter to the end of it. E.g keywordx.com. It won't be as effective, but you should still rank well with it.

TBInternetMarketing: I agree this works just fine. But i do believe there is a slight advantage to having a lot of your variables "spot on" and an EMD is definitely one of those variables when you're trying to rank a good keyword.
