PPC vs. CPM Affiliates

Is Cost Per Impression affiliate linking of any worth? For example, if I have a niche site with good content, instead of adding PPC affiliate ads like Google adwords, are there any (at all) decent CPM affiliate programs.

I wouldn't think right off that they would be super profitable because the affiliate is paying you per impression rather than click (which is obviously better for them). However, if you have a site with TONS of traffic, maybe it would do well.

Thoughts?

You've got to test multiple placements and pricing. CPM would be based upon how much traffic you have and the pricing you get depends on the network and demographic targeting (if any) you have available.

Might be better to run your own affiliate banners and landers and get paid on an action (lead or sale).

A smart site owner tests all of it and sees what the highest ROI is because it's different on every category of site as well as where the traffic comes from.

Tanks for the info Rob. What do you mean by running "my own" affiliate banners and landers? Do you mean having a squeeze page for an affiliate product that pays per lead/sale, and then placing my own affiliate banners on that niche website pointing to the squeeze page?

I may be a tad confused here.

Undoubtedly PPC is more profitable. The most viable is Adsense which uses a combination of both.
This means that you get paid either way. The real twist is when CPA rivals CPM and PPC.

Personally things that have to do with personal improvement does well CPA.

Things that have to do with other niches are great for PPC earnings.

That has been my observance in the years I’ve been in Marketing.

When you say Adsense uses both, do you have to choose on or the other or do you get paid for both at the same time?

      Hi jkennedy,

Adsense uses both Earn per click and CPM (Earn for every 1,000 Impressions)

The earning per click can range up to 10.00 for one single click.

The CPM gives you $0.25 for every 1,000 impressions of a specific ad that show on your website.

So Adsense uses a combination of both Earn per click and earn per CPM.
